It's one of the default 5 codes i always put on my chars for the occasional boost when a member beat a main boss.
I don't know about invasions, but when it comes to summoning signs, messages and bloodstains, you know it someone from a similar group when there is a circle around them.

Those codes are separate from the multiplayer passcodes for joining other people. The ones like Vati simply highlight messages or summons in general multiplayer where you can see anyone. Multiplayer passwords are ones you use to connect with very specific people who are using that same password at that same moment. Applying a password like that prevents you from seeing other summons or being summoned from anyone else not using that password, so many people don't have one so they can help or be helped by the majoirty of the community.

TLDR: Community passwords are not the same as multiplayer passwords. You will not find people to play with using community passwords as a multiplayer password.
