Why is my Grafted Greatsword outscaling Heavy Greatsword
I had always heard the Greatsword had good AR. But somewhere around 80ish str and 13 dex the Grafted Sword is outscaling the Greatsword. Its close, but still.

I had always intended to switch out the Grafted once it started falling behind but Im about to beat the DLC and still using it.

Its a dual wield build so I can use both, just thought it was odd.

Why is that odd? Some weapons just do more damage or outscale others. It's an RPG.

But that doesn't mean that the (Ultra)Greatsword is strictly worse, even at high STR. It's the longest ultra and you can put any compatible AoW on it, while you're stuck with the grafted blade gs's skill, which loses a lot of it's usefulness as you level up, especially once you have your relevant stats softcapped.
It’s a somber weapon that has a unique ash of war that can’t be swapped out. Typically they’ll have better scaling, but far less versatility / customization like a regular smithing stone weapon.

Thats what I thought as well. But the extra stats are always useful and the skill actually is a longer lasting Endure. You can just spam the skill and get near infinite poise.

I can't tell you why because I'm not looking at your build (infusions etc.), but doesn't really matter because the Greatsword has the longest range of colossal swords and a better moveset, so it excels in PvP compared to the Grafted Blade Greatsword. For PvE it's an Ash of War spammer. I guess you could also do that in PvP, but it won't work against an opponent with a brain which is surprisingly very few and far between. The amount of invaders I see trying to spam Lions Claw on the Greatsword is pretty funny.

All that being said, I do think the Grafted Blade Greatsword is extremely underrated for PvE. A lot of people rank it as one of the worst because of its Ash of War, but with the correct build it can turn you into a proper tank that rarely has to roll. That's not bad in my opinion.

I don't really know why you'd dual wield colossal swords either as the main reason to powerstance these days is for moveset purposes after countless nerfs. Colossal swords have a pretty mediocre moveset when power stanced. That's why things like the Starscourge Greatsword are pretty bad outside of PvE because while the Ash of War is amazing, the forced power stance of colossal swords gives you such an inferior moveset compared to other colossal swords that can be two-handed.
Ive replayed the game over 100 times and I purposefully avoid "OP builds" but I was running out of ideas so decided a Colossal weapons jump attack build. From what I had heard Jump Attack is fairly powerful.

But ya, definitely underrated. The endure part of the ash of war made it so I mostly face tanked everything minus the cross slashes of Consort Radahn. They seem to do a crap ton of damage even through endure.
