Anyone else feels like elden ring turns repetitive later into a playthrough?
I came back to Elden Ring for the DLC after my first playthrough a couple of years ago, but honestly, I’m struggling to enjoy it. The game feels too repetitive now. I’ve already built my character, and I’m not even halfway through the DLC, but every time I sit down to play, I drop it after just 5 minutes.

I’ve gotten pretty good at Soulslikes, so every encounter feels like mindless rolling and attacking over and over with the same build. I end up clearing every corner of the map for runes just to get strong enough for the next boss, but it feels more like a chore than fun. And the sheer size of the game doesn’t help—it’s so long that finishing a playthrough feels like a major commitment instead of something I can enjoy in a few sessions.

The lack of meaningful loot also kills my motivation. Most dungeons don’t give me anything that actually adds to my build, and only a few throughout the entire game have felt worthwhile to clear. I find myself using the same few talismans because the rest don’t feel impactful unless you’re in very specific situations.

I also try to switch up the Fashion Souls from time to time to keep things fresher, but am I the only one having an extremely hard time finding cool armor pieces? Especially the ones that actually look unique or interesting—it feels like a real grind just to find anything stylish.

Post-Leyndell, the character progression feels stagnant. I’m already at a high level with my desired build, and leveling up just increases a few numbers here and there without making a noticeable difference. It’s hard to stay motivated when the rewards feel so minimal.

I’m posting this because I really want to enjoy the game again. I don’t think I’ve burned out since I only did one playthrough two years ago, but it feels like I’ve hit a wall. Has anyone else felt this way? If so, how did you overcome it? Any advice or fresh perspectives would be super helpful!

try a different build
Play a different game that isn't an action rpg because it seems youre burnt out by them.

Yeah
I've beaten ER 3-4 times solo, two times being NG+ runs where I tried a different playstyle. Ive also beaten it twice with Seamless Coop + various friends. Working on a third Coop run right now, and just completed a new vanilla 100% collectibles run. That run took a week to get EVERY SINGLE unqiue item in one run using savegame copies and duplicating a couple key items you can only normally get one of. (Offline of course).

If you burn out, you must be leveling the same way each time, and never trying new weapons and items as you get them. Of course it will be boring. The only way to 'focus a build' is to look up the required items ahead of time and rush to get those. 90% of what you get wont be for your build, regardless of what you choose. Maybe 60% for strength builds?

If you're good at soulslikes you don't need to clear
every corner of the map to be strong enough.

Focus on major bosses and important equipment for your build.
Consult wiki for guidance if you don't mind using it.

Play co-op.
Summon players for boss fights and send your sign to summoning pools to be summoned.

This is one of my biggest issues with this open world as well

It's fine when I'm doing new content because at least I see something different but when I get the combo of both pointless rewards and reused content it does feel boring.

I don't think the dark souls mechanics for character progression work well for an open world like this. It does feel like you barely get anything after a point. They tried to fix it with the scadutree fragments but it's far from being an exciting mechanic

My motivation for playing the first time was just to see the content and bosses. I was also respecing a lot to try the new things I find. If that's not enough for you then maybe you should just drop it. Forcing yourself to like something doesn't work.

Try a randomizer mod, try multiplayer, or don't play it until you've forgotten enough detail about the game to enjoy it later.

In the future: people will complain about 120 fps because it's 120 frames of the same picture, and that ♥♥♥♥ is boring as ♥♥♥♥. Who got time to see the same picture 120 times? Nah, that ♥♥♥♥ boring.

Maybe give pvp-invasions a try , for me that what keeps me playing this game , feels like a new encounter every match
Time for a different game.

You must be burnt out. Had a similar experience back when it was released and I played through it twice. But returning after a couple of years felt pretty good, I am currently on my second (recent) full run of the game + DLC and trying new stuff out, fought bosses with different weapons and strictly with no summons, without cheese OP builds either. Still going strong, even though it's not exactly fresh anymore.
