I have some questions about Seamless Co-Op
So this isn't my first time hearing about the mod first and foremost. I'd like to try it out considering I've beaten the game 4 times on my own and would like to try something different from the traditional play style this game has to offer. Now don't get it twisted, I'm not doing this because I think invasions are X,Y,Z (pick an excuse from the box) They are what they are, and I've come to accept them as part of the flare that co op offers in vanilla. That being said, I'd like to see what it's like to travel around with other players without the limitations of not being able to ride torrent in the areas that call for it, as well as remain in a players world even after death so we can continue exploring, fighting bosses, etc.

What I like to know is if I decide to go forth with this Seamless Co Op mod, how does this affect my save file? If I did this with my current save and then down the line decide to get rid of the mod and go back to vanilla, would it compromise my main save considering I played in seamless co op for an X amount of time? Would I need to copy my current save and have one dedicated to seamless while the other one remaining untouched in vanilla?

There's not a lot of people that summon me for anything other than the mid to late game boss fights as well as fight clubs and hunter summoning in Limgrave. So I'd like to try something new for a change. I've done invasions myself and even still very few little players in vanilla co op to invade in. and usually when I'm the invader most of these co op sessions I spawn in are already near the boss door so I'm gone as fast as I came.

I tried it. I wound up losing all my saves but I think that was my fault as I was trying to copy my saves over from base game to seemless

if you start new than no. it has no effect. you open seemless with a seperate exe that does NOT have cheat engine. when you go back to base game simply use steam or base game exe and it wil perform and load onto servers with cheat engine and all your base game files as normal

Pretty sure the mod page answers this for you but here: Seamless co-op creates a new set of saves/backups, called ER0000.co2 instead of .sl2. It copys your normal save file, so when you open Seamless, you have all your stuff there but swapping between Seamless and vanilla doesn't screw you over. Seamless disables EAC but also utilizes a different network for multiplayer, so that the lack of anti cheat and the use of mods doesn't and cannot get you banned if it's all relegated to your co-op save file.
That said, if you do use other mods with Seamless, like a randomizer or anything that replaces the game's regulation.bin file, both you and your co-op partners need to use the same mods at the same version, etc, and if you want to swap back to vanilla, remember to remove your modded files and/or break the file path in the Modengine .ini so that the game doesn't use any modded files.

So, in short, if you're just using Seamless co-op, it duplicates your save and creates separate .co2 files to use instead of the vanilla .sl2 files. And with the way seamless works, swapping back to the vanilla game is easy enough, wouldn't get you banned, and keeps your vanilla save files separate.

Hmm.... Doesn't sound like it's worth the risk then. I don't intend on starting from scratch either so I'll probably just leave it be then.
Seamless co-op stores your saves seperatly otherwise the base game would think youre cheating if you loaded a save file from seamless on your original unmodded game its basically a seperate game that is only a few Megabytes big

it can be hella buggy sometimes especially when using the horse etc but when it works its hella fun if you got a chill buddy to play with and ignore crybabies that go BUT THATS CHEATING! cause they can F off xD

Oh, I see... Well I take back my previous reply to the other guy then. I might check it out lol

I think my issue was unique. I got a new PC and had the base game on drive D while steam and my appdata file are on drive C. Either way i couldnt get it to work but starting a new character seemless looked cool. you can also get cheat engine ( i think its called) a mod where you can give yourself any items in game on a new character so starting new you dont have to go hunt down your build through the entire game

As long as you disable this mod you can easily get back onto the regular network

you can also adjust the difficulty etc btw
OH! There's one thing I forgot to ask fellas. How does seamless Co Op affect achievements? Can you still get them or no?

Seamless still connects to steam, so it should be possible to get Steam achievements. Also, copying your regular save over to seamless is as easy as copying the file and changing the copys file extension to .co2. The mod did not automatically create the copy for me, but honestly if you have a friend to play with consistently, its better to start over so you are both at the same power level.

Yea-- like they said..

The .ini config file that you use to set up your seemless session, also includes a 'file extension' option that you can fully customize up to 24 characters.

So you can have multiple save files in your same elden ring directory and they won't effect each other, at all.
