Its funny how barrier of gold makes sorcery useless
Funny how faith have a incantation wich completely negates sorcery but for sorceries they got nothing if you run into somone with barrier of gold your entire build is useless

law of regression only require intelligence.

if you are willing to invest a tiny bit in faith you have access to fire.

otherwise frost doesn't care about magic negation since it goes with robustness.

I am not a sorcerer, my knowledge is quite limited.

The spell gives 60% magic damage reduction, and lasts for 70 seconds.

With that in mind, there are spells available to you that don't deal magic damage. Gravity sorcery deals exclusively physical damage. Magma damage deals fire damage. In addition, casting Barrier of Gold means they can't cast Black Flame protection. This is along with the fact that pure faith, while not terrible by any means, also isn't as strong as other types of builds. If you can last 70 seconds in a fight, they will be fully vulnerable to your attacks.

Of course, as the guy said above, you could just Law of Regression and strip off his buffs.

Good luck in the arena!

Sorcery builds don't really have the option of physical damage for PvP. There's gravity magic, but it's use is limited. Collapsing stars is pretty good, but not for damage.

I did see a build based on fire sorceries that looked barely viable. But memory slots are limited, and you don't want to many spells equipped anyways since it makes cycling them harder, so you can't just thrown in a bunch of fire sorceries on the off chance you face barrier of gold.

Above poster mentioned frost. I don't really think it should be considered as a barrier of gold counter. Adula's moonblade certainly still has the potential to chunk someone who has barrier of gold up, but the more you use it the easier it'll be for your opponents to dodge it.

I'm not sure the other frost sorceries are really worth mentioning. Some people use freezing mist to zone, but I was never to impressed by it. Ice crag could probably replace comet in your swift shard> comet combo, but it's range is a bit short. Zamor ice storm falls into the category of spells that are so bad we just try to pretend they don't exist.

Law of regression definitely works as a counter. But since it has a long animation it's good if you start casting it as a reaction to your opponent casting barrier of gold. If you wait to long you might get punished.

I honestly stopped slotting law of regression on my intelligence build though. I just play annoyingly passive against people using barrier of gold until it wears off.
I wouldn't say "definitely a counter" but it can counter it. You have to find time to cast this reactively at some point after which can be hard the first time if you don't know what they're casting or they start with a jump on you. Even more critical is it costs nearly twice the FP while having far higher stat requirement than Barrier of Gold which would be a negative impact to already high FP cost sorceries if they're using such spells. However, it is a potential option none the less, especially on host side where someone can engage and hold the invader while it is cast.

Good points if the sorcerer is flexible.

Rock sling is 18 int and one memory slot.

the casters are mad that one skill can nullify their cheese build.

Yup, and I'd be willing to bet many sorcerers carry it for PvE reasons anyways. Of course, they would have to mix it up with other spells (likely reduced effective sorceries with delay mechanics) since on its own it is trash in PvP and easily dodged.

Rock sling is strictly for PvE or gang bang (3v1). In 1v1 it's next to useless.
