Mountaintops of the Giants feels like filler
There's so little to explore in this area. You ride for 10 minutes (across some really cool set pieces, I must admit. The big bridge that spans the ravine would be an awesome backdrop for duels) and... you're already at the Camera Giant? No dungeon to go through, no items to collect before you can access the forge. Then you beat the Camera Giant, burn the Erdtree, and now you're at Farum Azula.

I looked at the map and it looks like there's an entire western section that I don't know how to access (wouldn't be surprised if this is a DLC area). As beautiful as the mountaintops are, this whole area feels unfinished. They could have just taken me straight to Farum Azula after the capital and I don't think anything would be lost. I find it strange they saved the smallest open world area for last. I'd think you want to save the biggest, most expansive open world area for the finale.

The west area can be accessible with the secret medallion

I just finished this area it was pretty boring

Clearly rushed. Unfortunately this happens with a lot of games. Still a pretty cool region, just wish they had more time.

I don't think its rushed, it was a slaughter house during the crusade against the giants. A bare empy wasteland are signs of a great battle. It is the end game, area and it doesn't need to be filled to the brim. The scale of the land shows how big the giants are, with them gone, except for one, of course its going to be empty.

you need a medallion to access the secret area

also there's a hero's grave nearby the giant if you haven't been yet

Although I love Elden Ring dearly (as I did all the Souls games), FROM drops the ball in the endgame EVERY SINGLE TIME. Seriously. I can't think of a single FROM Software game that didn't have a weaker end than beginning/middle.

It's a winter mountaintop and likewise was the back drop for mass extinction.i don't know what you expect to see there. Elsa's castle? There's haligtree.

I'm gonna disagree with this. Aside from a few giant corpses, you would never know that it was the home of the Giants. Even all of the structures are human-sized, which makes no sense, as the Giants did not live with humans ever.

Most of the game is filler. That's what happens when you make an oversized game and release it before you've had time to finish.

The last three: areas Mountaintops of the Giants, Consecrated Snowfields, and Crumbling Farum Azula don't hold up to the rest of the game. It's all downhill after Leyndell.

Yeah, clearly it is underdeveloped. Concencrated snowfield is much more interesting though.

you can actually jump off the cliff and kill yourself in range of a stake of marika in the Consecrated Snowfields and resurrect from that to get into that zone :P

There is a literal frozen graveyard with dozens of killed giants. If you read the items and lore behind the area, you understand why it is the way it is. If you dont' than I can understand why you think that.

To be honest, I think I'd rather play 100 matches of Battlefield 2042 than do another hero's grave. They're just so tedious because of those freaking insta-kill traps.
