Anyone out there using flails?
Cool weapon for PvP. A lot of them proc bleed and they can't be parried. And they're relatively quick. Going to be rocking a regular ole medieval flail this new game run but I'd like to hear your guys' take on it.

I've played with them As far as pure potential damage goes the astels flail is hands down the best.

Hell yeah! Chainlink Flail, Spiked Palisade Shield and Briar Armor for my very pointy knight.

I used them quite a bit early in my playthrough, but swapped out for things like the falchion or scimitar for dual-wielding curved swords due to the low requirements on faith or int builds where you infuse them properly.

My preferred way of using them was to use the Nightrider Flails on a build with good intelligence, dual-wielding them, and infusing them with Cold. That lets them freeze and bleed things quite well, and you can also do some good stagger damage via things like the jump attacks. Their downside in this form is that they are relatively slow and short reach compared to some weapons, but make up for it in cool factor. If you're casting in this way, you can use sorceries like the floating swords and such to help you get additional damage and protect you from your animations. You can use the claw talisman (I think it's that one) to boost jump attacks and they are very effective.

I had this exact same idea for a while now! The look is awesome and could be very viable to play.

I noticed that. And I suppose that makes sense. It's difficult to get and the requirements for the scaling is demanding to get the damage out efficiently.

I think there shouldve been a Great or Collosal tier flails for sure, but I do still like the realistic sized flails, too.

i've occasionally used family heads in pve in areas with lots of strike weak foes or against bosses, it has great damage type spread (physical + magick)

the WA is supposed to be good as well but i don't have the dex for it to scale anywhere close to as much dmg as my own self-cast death sorceries so i dont use that and which prevents me from using the weapon more often
I get that. It seems like flails take some dedication to run.

I tried the nightrider flail after reading it was great, but it was only not bad. It's kind of fun to use and it takes an ash of war, but I found myself switching out for other weapons pretty quickly.

For pvp they can almost be considered better as the poise break potential is superior against npcs then your fast pace weapons.

This same small advantage gives them some lack luster issues.
For example the pace of the weapon combo invalidates them for pvp, this adds into the other issue of having no range. No pvp worth at all imp because of those factors.

Otherwise yeah kinda fun for pve. Get a lot of solid hit combos in, higher poise break chances on enemies, and you get that with the blood proc bonus. Kinda good.

This is what I was looking for: duel wielding flails. Sounds like it's viable. I think the fashion with flails could be epic.

The night's cavalry flail is always in my back pocket if I think the other guy is running parry. It's just too damn good.

Nah, unless you mean flailing to hit alt F4 cause the game sucks, then yes i do
