Shard of Alexander Quest Broken

I have read some players cannot complete Iron Fists Alexander's quest to get the Shard of Alexander because he's not found at various locations after beating Radahn.

Anyone knows what breaks this quest or a workaround?

i finished his quest but looking back on it now ive seen other people see and meet him in loads of places i never spoke to him in yet i still got to fight him in Farum Azula for his good talisman.

i knocked him out of the ground once, saw him at the festival, summoned him at the fire giant cos hes Alexander and hes cool not that he was much help lol... and then i met him in Farum Azula

ive seen other people find him in a 2nd hole and throw oil on him to get him out. seen people talk to him while hes bathing in lava ect.

But you spoke to him at the radahn area right ? There are actually a couple magma wyrms at mt gelmir.. did you fight the wrym near Seethewater Terminus grace? After resetting the area he should be near the lavafall and a rock you can jump on to talk with him without being on lava.

Can't remember if I spoke to him after Radahn fight but definitely defeated the right Magma Wyrm and stood at jagged rock where he's supposed to be nearby in lava.

Thats strange. Regardless if you find him beforehand or not.. he should be at the radahn area once you defeated radahn.. that one is the trigger for him to move to mt gelmir.

You might have to look at the former locations. But the way it is now it seems like a bug. SInce after 5 playthroughs.. I only did everything in regards to him one single time. The remaining 4 times.. I started his stuff always at radahns.

After beating Radhan, reload area and talk to him there in the arena

Thanks @TyresTyco & @Homeless, I found Alexander at Radahn's battlefield and talked to him. Then, found him at lava and next fought him near Dragon Temple Lift

You want to know what will break the quest in-game? Accidentally aggro’ing him and killing him before realizing who/what he was, lol. Encountered him in Gael Tunnel while running for my life low on HP and no flasks. Didn’t realize there was a Site of Lost Grace nearby when I turned to try to stagger the pursuing enemies when there he was just standing there and accidentally got clobbered. The started flailing at me and saying, “Oh, so this is how it is? Humans can’t be trusted ….”

At least his death dialog was pretty darkly funny.
