Killing patches

Im wanting to kill but want to leave patches alive will this affect the outcome?

Not his armor* just fyi. I think you can kill him after you're done there, not 100% sure though.

You can also see him after Volcano Manor - though I am not sure his line is complete fully, but once you get stuff from him in V.M. he moves to the near-by Shrowded Castle or whatever in an unmissable spot.

Talking with him there, he has some other stuff to say and one last thing for you to do. Also, doing this netted me his armor, which is why I think it was the end, but I refuse to believe he could be so sentimental or just consider someone else's feelings at all, to the point of risking his life for them.

His quest is complete once he goes back to the starting cave.

I'm curious, which outcome did you mean?
If you mean the final game - no, Patches does not effect which ending you can chose.
If you mean Patches' questline... well, yeah, killing him will effect that if you snuff him before it's complete.

Yes that exactly what i wanted to know, thank you. I killed him first playtrhorugh and wanted to do his quest this time round, thank you

he does goes back there ?

Yeah, open his chest again. He'll come down and attack you but don't fight back. He'll stop and apologize and give you a gesture.

You currently MUST kill Patches to obtain his armor set but it's smart to wait until you've completed his questline and gotten all the other rewards first.
There's speculation that some quests are going to get a little added to them once the DLC finally drops.
