great runes not working or what
Great runes bonus do not display or they just plainly dont work ? My stats dont change depending on what great runes i am using. is it a display bug or they simply dont work ?

in any case, its very amateurish and shows bad game design

Use a rune arc. Read the item descriptions to see what they do. In any case, Its very amateurish and shows your lack of knowledge and ability to figure out basic things in the game.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: A shard of the shattered Elden Ring.
Grants the blessing of an equipped Great Rune upon use.

Even if no Great Rune is equipped, it will slightly increase maximum HP upon use.

It even tells you in the notes for Rune Arcs. Investigate a little, and you'll find that it isn't bad game design but rather mediocre investigation on your part. Git-guder.

Truth be told though...It took me literally a whole playthrough before I figured this out...for what it's worth.

Its function is no different to that of embers, humanity or effigies from the previous games. You are provided an inherent boost in stats, Godricks quite literally giving you +40 levels, of course they'd make it a finite resource.

What is useless? Rune Arcs or Great Runes? Rune Arcs have minimal use by themselves, but the Great Runes are quite useful when charged with a Rune Arc.

both are useless in my book. a consumable is something useless in a game that is about trying and dieing a gazzilion times. i really dont see the point. i was interpreting this as " great runes do something and rune arc add to that". now that i know, i can just disregard this entire feature, like so many more feature in this not so great of a game

Don't know if you're trolling or not but I agree. I used one great rune, found out it relies on finite resources and never used it again. Beat the game five times without them. They are useless.

if you dont use them because you are afraid to run out, then yes, they are useless.

WOW, 40 levels, thats crazy. would have been nice if it was just a permanent little buff that did not require a resource.

About everything. It's the classic case where you wonder if the post is stupid or just trolling.

In a game where dying can happen often, activated Great Runes using precious consumables can literally be the mechanic that gives the player just enough edge to have a chance at progressing through an otherwise out-of-reach area or encounter.

Where would the challenge be if the thing that activates a Great Rune is found everywhere and so easily procured? It's meant to be more of a 'Hail Mary' when you happen to find yourself encountering a sudden brick-wall moment in the game.

If we're being honest, Rune Arcs are actually pretty numerous in the PVE part of the game, and if you PVP, you can farm them indefinitely, and Great Runes remain active until you die. That's pretty useful. Permanent though? Now that'd just be silly.
