Caelid is proof this developers are now out of touch
Seriously this is stupid have you been to Caelid? dumb question too get it? It is so close to the start everyone is going their early probably before the southern portion of the map and traveling to Caelid instead where it's only death. So stupid it is not even the map layout it is even a trap right WHEN YOU LEAVE the starting zone to the lower area and entering the ruins a entrance will teleport you to Caelid into the mines and you have trapped there like that out of nowhere how does it feel to a new player to that happen to and then quit?

Caelid should not be there make it large starter zone because it's lazy to just put Caelid there when that zone should be more starter area and Caelid off the side of North West Liyanaria of the Lakes where it really belongs think about it you know it makes sense. Talk to so many playuers who quit Elden Ring know what they say? It was because Caelid or they quit there because of it.

People complain also about the birds and dogs but it's fine really think about that too it's good practice for toughter enemies beyond just move Caelid to North West of Liyarnia of the Lakes and it is better.

Having completed all I can currently do in Limgrave, the Lakes, and the two Rivers, I am now playing through Caelid in order to unlock the more areas and advance some quests.

I am finding Caelid (South) challenging but not particularly difficult. Birds and Dogs are easy once you know their patterns. Dungeons and Gaols are interesting.

Have a long way to go before finishing the area (and the north section), but am having fun there. :)

YMMV
If you want to make it even easier head north to Dragonbarrow. There is a few ways to get there and while it looks very similar to Caelid in many ways its actually a different smaller region with little to do. You can reach it from Bestial Sanctuary which lies in that region via the teleporter/fast travel if unlocked. In western Dragonbarrow is a certain NPC Merchant and shack that sells a torch that when held wards like 95% of the animal enemies in the game forcing them passive unless you hit them. You can even walk up and just charge attack and beat down them one at a time and the others will remain passive until individually attacked.

The Torch sounds nice! :) Have already been into Dragonbarrow via two ways. Sellia Tunnels and jumping the chasm.

Need to go there at some point soon as I want the second half of the lift key, but have other stuff to do first. :)

Thanks for the tip on the Torch!
If you don't explore the starting areas completelly and move on at a low power level to later areas . You deserve to be destroyed.

So, so true. Finishing an area as much as possible has been great for me in terms of progression and enjoyment of the game. :)
I got destroyed too but still kept going cause i wanted to. I knew im not supposed to be there at lvl40 or so on my very first play. Its not caelid, the placement or the much stronger enemies. Its you that is the problem. Banging your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ head against a wall and not going somewhere else...... its really that simple but no, you people need a GLOWING ARROW on your screen and a voice telling you where to go every 20 seconds or you take your ball and go home.....

By your logic, Dark Souls 1 should have failed immediately, what with it giving you three paths to choose from as soon as you enter Firelink Shrine. Two of those paths have enemies you can't even fight properly without special weapons. Caelid is no different except that you CAN ACTUALLY PROGRESS CAELID close to the start and don't need special equipment or items, it just isn't the ideal level. You explore your options, you determine the paths that are too difficult, and choose the one that works. I think you are the one who is out of touch, with reality.
It's actually not an early area. In regards to natural progression, it's limgrave, weeping coast, lianara, Atlus Plateau, then Caelid with the land of the giants being the last.
Caelid's true purpose is to teach new players that there are places you shouldn't go immediately.
It's incredible how someone can be so stubborn against having a choice.

If Caelid is too hard, guess what, you don't have to be there. You can go anywhere else.
It's option there for you, with a ton of loot to get and you could grab that without even fighting.

In a game that resepects your intelligence and gives you a ton of options between different tier difficulty areas right from the start, which is something not many games do and Fromsoft is famous for that, you complain about having those options?

What is wrong with you? If I'm presented with a giant map where I can explore the middle, go south, west, and east, and one of those areas kick my butt... that's on me, if I continue to struggle, insteat of going somewhere else. You have teleportation right from the start...

You basically demand liniar game progression in an open world game. That's just silly.

There is real beauty in this, people should appreciate that intoxicating sensation of absolute dread after going where you are not supposed to go.

You visit Caelid first time, Rotview balcony. From there you can witness the landscape and a mutant bird staring at you. After unlocking the grace you follow the road but then a whole horde of zombies forces you to take a detour.

You find some ruins in the middle of nowhere, with a imp statue wich means there is something valuable hidden there. You dismount Torrent and a few seconds after two mutant birds start screeching and flying towards you. Of course you die horribly and discover how weak and vulnerable you really are in the most gruesome way posible.

I pity you for real if you cant enjoy this situation and i would pay Elden Ring full price again to get ravaged by mutant birds.

Cookie cut the game for the trendy casuals who can't breathe air without complaining.
Tbh I found the teleport trap chests hilarious. What an amazing idea to shock an unsuspecting player and also an amazing challenge to get out of a dangerous area if you aren´t ready for it yet or to actually try to do it nevertheless.

When I was totally new to ER I was blown away by those "surprizes" in a positive way. I really enjoyed that the game throws you into the mud and that it isn´t always 100% predictable.
No game is perfect, and true, this trap was totaly wrong designed.

Just escape and forget this place for while.

And dont forget report all mentaly ill posts here for abuse.
