Offline Ban
Does FromSoft ban players in this game for switching between Online & Offline modes? (like they did with Dark Souls 3)

I like to know that if I feel like it I'm safe to play offline for a while.

nobody gets banned for that except for people who mod/cheat

I highly doubt anyone has ever been banned just for swapping between online and offline. Most likely it is people going offline to mod, cheat, etc. then forgetting to get rid of them before going online. Someone who actually mods could probably tell you exactly what to avoid.

Switching between online/offline, back-uping and changing savefiles, using mod excluding anything invalid things are all safe.

from what i understand your fine unless you do modding that could be considered cheating, however modding the icons to be ps5 icons, and making it widescreen will not result in a ban because it doesnt modify the save file in any way, unlike boosting your rune count or giving yourself items you didnt earned in a legit way, so if you use trainers or something best to stay offline completely or dont do it at all.

to clarify using any mods online will result in a ban so you have to use them offline, but only the mods that mess with your save file will ban you if you decide to go back online.

Some people has complained about being banned for using the widescreen mod. Whether this is true or they were using other things, i do not know.

yeah they would have to be using it online for that to happen. (or with easyanticheat on)
but apparently you cant even go online with it, and i did a quick search and a found one thread that said they were banned but they verified their files and they were able to play online, so it wasnt actually a ban in that case.

No, i go offline when i play with mods, then delete the modded save then go online and i've been fine, so going offline is fine, and playing with mods offline is also fine.

Dunno why you feel the need to go offline though other then if you just need to because you wont have internet connection.

Do not spread misinformation. Thats all not true, you culd never been banned for going offline/online. One modder/cheater will get banned when online.

fromsoft never banned for going between online and offline in any of their games, unless you mean intentionally disconnecting your internet while playing online, like for example you get invaded in a really rough spot and unplug your ethernet cable to avoid pvp. in that case, yes they do still penalize your for disconnecting, but there is not now nor has there ever been a penalty for switching between online and offline mode by changing your menu settings.

That's interesting. It sounds like i'm free & safe to install the PS5 button mod I saw. It's strange, though. They listed needing to use another mod to disable the anti cheat, but looking at that mod it said it just forces the game into offline mode. Made me think it was unsafe to edit the textures & play online.

i'd imagine people could be banned for flawless widescreen when trying to do online play for those of us who are on ultrawide monitors as it prevents you from playing online.

I do not own Elden Ring yet but i do own the Dark Souls games and i missed out on the online feature of those but i honestly do not really care as i would play these games as single player and when i buy elden ring i will do the flawless widescreen fix as well so i do not have to play with black boxes on the sides.

After a lot of my friends were suspended (i think 6 months) for switching into offline more in DS3 (avoiding pvp heavy areas) i've been nervous about ever starting offline & switching into online or visa versa.

So far, I think this is my most enjoyable offline experience in a souls game. The older games just feel empty, but this world feel lived in & dynamic.

i think you misunderstood, you have to play offline. its just that you can play offline with that mod but later on play online without the mod no problem. some mods mess with your save data which will flag your game for a ban.

yeah i have been playing offline with flawless but whenever i needed to co op for a boss i would switch to vanilla elden ring without the ultrawidescreen and was able to beat the boss online and then switch back once i was done lol.
