ELDEN RING
Elden ring app crash and freeze every 15 mins or less, please help
Hello,

The main problem I'm facing is a constant freeze and then app crash every 15 mins or less. I know I'm not the only person who has this problem, but I've tried countless Youtube videos and reddit posts non-stop over the past days, getting really frustrated.

Everyone has a different solution to it, but none seem to fix mine. Here to see whether anyone has a fix specific to my setup.

Now my specs aren't the best in the world it's an Alienware laptop from 2017 I believe. It was playable with a decent FPS, except it's just the crash. I don't mind terrible graphics but game crashing is unbearable. Any help or suggestions beyond this is greatly appreciated!

i7 - 6820HK CPU @2.70 GHz
16GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M
Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

Steps I tried

1. Tried reinstall graphics Driver with DDU
2. Reinstalled Windows
3. Turned off Easy Anti Cheat and played on offline mode
4. Lowered resolution and with lowest graphics setting (FPS around 40-60)
5. Under clocked GPU by 50 - 60 MHz
6. Disabled Steam overlay

the error say it is a directx render error, this can have many causes.

-damaged gamefiles (verify restart windows verify again)
-damaged windows files (run cmd as admin, run sfc /scannow there)
-damaged cache files (delete shader cache and temp files)
-malfunction/wrong GPU driver for a gtx 980m (install the recommanced driver)
-incompatible background applications
-finally overheating damaged GPU or malfunction at RAM (by overheating, wrong configuration, or weak RAM)
