Coming to a sudden stop at beast clergyman boss?

So i have finally made my way to crumbling azula and got to the beast clergyman with level 96. Although i do so little damage with my max lvl weapon and die in 2 hits. The fight feels just not doable after 60+ tries (Tried defeating him all day, using guides etc aswell.) I die in 2 hits or less, and thats in his first form. im not even going to talk about the second one.

Does anybody else get the feeling that the game just becomes more and more unfair and undoable the more you progress or is that just me and a few other people?

I think you may be underleveled, My character was about 120 when I fought him. Still was hard

That point happens typically for people at Mountaintops of the Giants. You're well past that.

That leads me to believe that maybe he counters your build. Because I had more trouble with Death Rite Birds and Bell Bearing Hunters than I did Beast Clergyman. Not saying Beast Clergyman was easy though.

Are you using holy damage? He's very resistant to that.

Also, Crumbling Farum Azula is a level 120-150 zone. So, you're quite underleveled at 96.

What's your setup like?

I use a blood build (i now know hes strong against blood though) . Using +10 Eleonoras Poleblade and crucible knight armor. The point being that im being killed in 1 or 2 hits. It just feels like i hit an invisible wall that i just can not get through.

It all depend on how you are playing it (and how well you are playing it too).

It all depend on how you are playing it (and how well you are playing it too).

No i know about all the coming things. Malenia, Lord of blood. etc etc.

Maybe im comparing this game too much to dark souls 3 (wich was my entry in fromgames) But i feel like back then you were atleast able to kill high level bosses with a level 20 character. Here they just hit you once with an undodgeable attack and its over.

DS3 was also my entry to the SOuls series and souls-like games.
And yes, it is also possible here in ER too, and I already gone through there with some lvl 70 (also I am not perfect either and I died a few times).

Yeah blood has got a huge nerf, it was needed.

Im not saying its IMPOSSIBLE to beat him, others have done it and beat him with a club but thats well beyond the abilities of a normal player.

I think maybe the problem lie exactly at you trying to proc bleed (what I think force you to attack more constantly to try and proc it, what lead to your death as you dont exactly wait for the best opportunities to attack while not being hit).
I mean, I never saw how you are fighting the boss so I am just guessing, by your bleed build, how you are trying to fight and what could be going wrong, if I am wrong, plz describe how youa re fighting the boss (I am just trying to help).

Try to go a bit slower on your pace and wait for better opportunities of moves you know you can deal with more consistency.

I use a blood build (i now know hes strong against blood though) . Using +10 Eleonoras Poleblade and crucible knight armor. The point being that im being killed in 1 or 2 hits. It just feels like i hit an invisible wall that i just can not get through.

Might be your level then. You should not be dying in 1-2 hits.

Here's the first time I killed him. I took a bunch of his hits wearing my pajamas.

What is your physical damage reduction at? 30% for all four types?

Also, I assume 40-60 vigor?

I have been keeping my distance, dodging the knives and boulders he throws and occasionally i try to get a hit in. I also summon mimic tear to get his attention away from me.
