I personally find spiders to be really cute and fascinating in a lot of ways, and harbor a huge passion for them, ever since I was a kid.
I thought only the realistic imagery of spiders would trigger their reaction.
Dude I remember when I was a child I thought I was afraid of spiders, cuz not only I feared being bitten by them as I live in 3rd world country, but I had nightmares with them as a child. Then I went to a friend's house who actually had it and watched he ran around his house crying and comically changing direction everytime he saw the spider again. That's when I realized I didn't had phobia, just regular rational fear. The nightmares stopped after that day.
Any crawly spirit summon would be welcome, in my opinion. Like a centipede or a dung beetle (like the new crystal lizards) or something. Doesn't even have to be a useful summon.
I recently read a post in the Monster Hunter Rise forums about someone asking for ways to deal with their arachnophobia for the one spider monster in the game, which is creatively a bit different from a real spider but still seemed to be effective (Rakna-Kadaki is the name of the monster). Their friends essentially did that hunt for them, but they were still looking for suggestions and just avoided the monster by the icon on the map every time it showed up in a hunt.
There's a lot of arachnophobia in gaming, it's just not always blatant if you're not the one with the phobia.
You dont really know how horrible phobia is for that person till you see that in action. The whole body not answering to reasoning and ruining the day for that person simply because of that uncontrollable reaction to their specific fear.
Just like my friend that has phobia of frogs. She cried everytime we saw one, at first I thought it was funny but then realized it was pretty sad. She started sobbing and some times would even have trouble breathing at the sight of frogs, or just imagining one was there was already terrifying for her.
I want to pet Melina ._-
