[Solved]Cannot load into the game since Patch 1.05
The game was fine until Patch 1.05 update. Since then my game keeps crashing. I can get into the game's menu but could not load into the game as the game crashes every time before the loading is finished. There are two warnings popping up for the crash.

The first one said,

WerFault.exe. - Application Error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000012d). Click OK to close the application.

After I clicked OK, the second warning popped up and it said,

The instruction at 0x00007FF72311D59D referenced memory at 0x000000000038. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.

I have tried checking file integrity and uninstall/reinstall and upgraded my graphics card driver to the latest (Version: 516.40 - Release on Wed Jun 15, 2022) and nothing helps. I am not running any overclocking on my PC as well.

My PC specs AMD Ryzen 5600x MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti VENTUS 2X OC, Driver 516.40 ASUS ROG Strix B550 i Corsair Vengence 16G of DDR4 3600MHz RAM, no RGB 500G of SATA SSD from Western Digital Operating System: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, Version 21H2

It was fine before the patch. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Many thanks.

Did you check file integrity twice in a row? If not, try that.

Thank you for suggesting that. unfortunately, it didn't do anything. The game just crashed immediately after launching. I checked integrity twice in a row again and the game froze on BANDAI NAMCO logo screen for a few seconds and crashed.

Maybe delete it and completely reinstall it? Do you play with EAC and used one of the mods or methods to bypass it?

Also try disabling any overlays like Steam, nVidia overlays, MSI/Riva, etc.

BTW, do other games work because those errors seem more hardware specific rather than software. CPU or RAM related possibly.

Also try running sfc /scannow from a admin command window on your drives.. maybe something got corrupted?

Sorry that didn't help. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will come along and help.

in your library, above your game list, enable view of tools (where you can show games software and tools). look for Steamworks Common Redistributables. click it, and then uninstall it. after it's uninstalled, install it back. after that's done, verify your game file integrity again for ER. does anything change?

i'd probably back up my game save right now if i was you by the way.

enable view hidden files
C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing
copy the elden ring folder and place it somewhere safe in case you solve your issue and steam cloud overwrites your save.

A quick search suggests this might be a problem with RAM. Might want to run MemTest?

It didn't do anything. Thanks for reminding me to back up my save though

I tried reinstalling and disabling overlays already but they didn't help. I didn't do any to EAC nor tried to mod the game.

I run a few game demos from Steam Game Fest and they run just fine. However, I just downloaded Forza 5 back and I cannot load it into the game (game crashed).

I will try to diagnose if there are any hardware related problems. Thank you for your suggestions.

try deleting your save from the elden ring folder, just the folder with your steam id, now that you've backed the folder up. any change?

also i don't think your cpu has an igpu, but your gpu does have options. can try it if you want to.
right click desktop
nvidia control panel
manage 3d settings to your left
program settings in the center, not global
add eldenring.exe from the directory, or the recent programs
cuda- set to your 3060 only, even if its the only option, check it
power management- set to prefer maximum performance
save/apply, start the game
?

do you use a custom oc?

Backup your saves, uninstall, and do a clean install.

Since you are having trouble with another game as well I would try removing and reinstalling your graphics card drivers. Make sure you download directly from Nvidia.

nobody is asking why his windows WerFault.exe is malfunctioning (it is the problem report) there is a general error causing a malfunction of windows itself, it has nothing to do with the game.

Some of the suggestions i agree > RAM defekt (maybe wrong settings in UEFI that caused a burnout of the modules like XMP over a period of time and now the configuration got incompatible), defective drivers, defective windows files (if you not used sfc /scannow it would be the time to do it)

extended Memory testing is also recommenced, Burntests of GPU/CPU/RAM

What you can test is: remove your first RAM Modul (if you have after this enough RAM to run the game try it, if the error does not appear again the Module gone bad or weak, if the error appear again there are many other options, if you use some tuning settings reset to default, if the error appear again and all software side things above had not worked you can have four things a defective CPU, defective RAM, defective mainboard or defective PSU

one thing i forgot if you have a corsair RAM with LED stuff deinstall corsair ICUE this software makes many strange problems.

Tried all and nothing's changed, but thanks for making every step so detailed.

No I don't run any overclocking.

Yes I am doing the testing. Thanks for the advice.

I recovered my system using a system recovery image I created in Feburay and suddenly I can load into both Elden Ring and Forza 5.

Don't why but the problem is solved. My sincere thanks to everyone that helped out.
