How do you guys beat Messmer?

I have 55 Vigor, 13 erdree shrads level, best armor and pretty nice shield. I summon both ash and npc. I drink flask that gives me magic bubble shield. And I still got one-or-two-shotted. Through shield, pose, through everything.

Right after he is in second phase, he attacks me in his snake form, then insta aor explosion and then he finishes me with spear. How much stats do I need to survive it?

In my case, i used the Black Knight Andreas ash, bolt of gransax with 70 dex, shard of alex, godfrey charm, and lightning damage boost cracked tear. Each bolt of geansax skill did 2800 damage.

Black Knight Andreas draws a lot if aggro from Messmer even when youre dealing a lot of damage. Hell stay alive long enough for phase 2.

Notable dodges:
When he does his spinny and stabby attack roll into him cuz its out of the hitbox.
In phase 2, dodge when the snakes mouth starts to close.

Fire resistance, shield with good fire resist - like the brass shield, or the shield you can get from one of the painting treasure hunt things - and tbh just rolling through his attacks. But yeah, fire resist of any kind goes a long way.

I defeated him with patience, perseverance and lots of coffee (started with big bonk stick with Savage Lion's Claw, eventually got him with Blasphemous Blade) after 12 tries, on scadu 11 iirc. I had my mimic, no NPC summon. He's a great boss, very well designed and I'm eager to fight him again this time on dex/arc character but for now Rellana is keeping me busy on that character bcs I'm trying to parry her lmao gg

I used bk shield +3, bloody antspur rapier +3 with poison mist, hefty rot pots and my bf Dung Eater. Summoned Hornsent too for quest. I was at lvl 20 so that was a bit hard, but I still had enough stamina to block most moves.
