DLC SPOILER Mohg Lore
Mohg Did Nothing Wrong! Everyone Apologize To Mohg!

Everybody cries that now thanks to the DLC, and I get why. Mohglester got Miquellested, poor guy. But... did Mohg really do nothing wrong?

The big question is: when was Mohg indoctrinated? From our understanding of things, Miquella needs to be in close contact, perhaps even have direct skin contact, to be able to brainwash somebody. Hell, even as an extremely powerful full-on-god he needs to hug us twice. Sure, that could just be to give us a chance in the bossfight, but this is also an indicator that - at least for a reasonably powerful person - Miquella needs to be very close to them.

Mohg was trapped in the shunning grounds most of his life, and after that effed off to a very remote location, only getting close to very few choice minions. He doesn't have a throne in Leyndell, and the only other demigod we know he got in contact with was Morgott, when the two sealed the Three Fingers.
With other characters we know a lot more about their relationships and meetings, but we never heard about Mohg having anything to do with either twin beforehand.
There is also the fact that other demigods do not seem to be brainwashed, even if they might have had contact with Miquella. (Ranny and Rykard actively working on plans counter to Miqs, Morgott speaking of Miquella in a really disgusted tone and calling him traitor. Even Radahn not going along with his supposed promise). So it would take close contact and effort to do that to a demigod.

From all of that it seems unlikely that Miquella and Mohg were in close contact before the kidnapping attempt. Which leads me to the theory:
Mohg DID want to kidnap Miquella for some reason, under his own free will, and Miquella decided to play 3D Speed Chess, brainwash Mohg when he got close, and turned his plans into "be my simp".
I mean, if you had that kind of power, and your creepy halfbrother turned up to kidnap you for some grand plan of his, wouldn't you go "F You, Creep, you do what I want now"?

I do not know WHY Mohg wanted to kidnap Miquella if not for the creepy Mohgwyn Dynasty (which I completely believe to be a fabrication from Miquella's brainwashing), but there would be more than enough potential reasons. Having a powerful force on your side. Having leverage against other demigods. Hell, perhaps even sacrificing Miquella to the Formless Mother. Miquella might simply have seemed like an easier target, being seen as kind and in the body of a child. Maybe Mohg thought he was the easiest demigod to hit, and then ended up Miquellested, with all his plans turned on their head, and everyone thinking him the creepy rapist rather than "just" the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warlord.

And that is another thing: we KNOW Mohg was an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warlord. As much as we may like Ansbach and his grand rhethoric of Mohg the great lord who deserved better, we KNOW that he was a big fan of the destructive sadomaso outer god, and that his followers were into hunting and hurting Tarnished. There are also the incredible amount of torture methods and torture victims all over his domain.
It is very likely that those practices were already a thing before Mohg got Miquellested. Yes, we can theorize that Miquella made these practices worse in order to compell others into seing Mohg as the Devil personified. But isn't it a little bit too easy to write all of those hints off and just say Mohg was an innocent victim that did nothing wrong, and Miquella was the one who caused all ill in his life?

I think Mohg was a ruthless warlord with a creepy obsession with his Outer God (and a lot of issues to unpack), and he wanted to kidnap Miquella of his own free will, possibly to gain power or leverage by going for the seemingly easiest target.
I also believe that Miquella allowed that, used this windfall for his own plans and whammied Mohg into the creepy Mohgwyn Rapist obsession, turning him from an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warlord into an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ exaggerated Satan Figure.

Also would be an explanation for why Miquella doesn't give even a single iota of a f**k for Mohg's soul. Beyond Miquella being severely damaged in the empathy and love department now, if Mohg came to kidnap him, Miquella would have no reason to care about what happens to him.

I just think it is far too easy to write off Miquella as the Demon and Mohg as the Victim, when both characters would be much more nuanced and interesting when they are both a little bit of either.

What do you think?

Urgh....TLDR, OP (im actually posting this in a good way....). Lets make it short and sweet!

Listen to Ansbach, he praise his lord and admits his fall from grace came after Miquella brain-washed him. Before that he was honorable and not the demented bloody idiot he is today.....That speaks volumes.

The way I see it, Miquella original plan to use the Haligtree to make himself become physically adult didn’t work and he realized that as soon as he attached himself to the tree. So he instead remotely contacted Mohg and lured him to the Haligtree so he would kidnap him. What he was offered is unknown but Mohg bit the bait anyway. He intended to use Miquella to his advantage but ended up becoming enslaved/brainwashed instead. Whether Mohg had good qualities before his brainwashing or not is questionable, however the state he is in when we meet him as the tarnished is fully insane and we are mercy killing him to end his suffering(he doesn’t leave us much choice though).

On the same note, the Miquella we fight as the final boss of the dlc is a corrupted version of the original Miquella, now devoid of morals or humanity and nothing more than a tyrant who wants to enslave the land between and rule everyone through brainwashing.

Mohg and Miquella are both tragic figures in my opinion.

ehhh i mean he is leader of a crazy blood cult .

it just happens he is dumb enough to kidnap someone who can charm him and turn tables on him and his cult.

then again the base and DLC does not give enough lore info/history about Mogh outside of:

1-He is twin Omen brother of morgott.
2- he discovered the formless mother and founded a blood cult.
3-and he kidnaps people like Varré and Miquella.

like we don't even know what his relationship with Morgott like are they enemies?

or what was his role in shattering and how did he get his Rune?

I couldn't get past the first sentence.
Mohg was born a filthy omen. The Greater Will knew he was trash, denied him grace, and like some Nietzschian cliche, Mohg embraces his own filth. Disgusting.

... Dude, the first sentence is sarcastic, because that is what far too many people say now.

Fine. I read it. Sorry to rage quit.
After considering your points, the only thing worse than Mohg, is Miquella.
