Sounds like a networking issue. Try (as a test) playing the game in full off-line mode. See if the freeze issue is still there, or it has gone away.
Also, be sure to do a Verify Files to make sure nothing is out of place.
When you switched over from the pirated version to the legit version, did you copy and then delete the saves folder? Or did you just try to continue on using the saves from the pirate version?
* Did you actually delete the save directory itself? Or just deleted the files using the game tool?
* What do you do in Task Manager to change the game behavior?
i deleted the whole game folder, but im unsure if the save directory is in another place that i didnt delete
in task manager i previously set priority to high, and under cpu affinity unchecked cpu0 for example, didnt really matter which one and then checked it back again. its a stupid fix but it resolved all the issues before and i didnt counter a single stutter or freeze after that. i just found a file on nexusmods that sets the game to high priority in windows reg and that kinda helped, but still freezes commonly but a little less.
C:\Users\YOURUSERID\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing
If you really wanted to start 'clean', you would need to turn Elden Ring Cloud Saves OFF and delete the contents of that EldenRing folder. After copying out a backup, of course.
Messing with CPU assignments and priorities is a dangerous business and there is a lot of misinformation out there. I got caught by one of those that said the individual CPUs should be 'enabled' in the system setups. Big mistake and totally wrong. I found out the hard way that was bad and uninformed advice.
So, based on what you are describing, it certainly sounds like something is up with your computer's configuration. Could be a unique interaction with the Elden Ring code as there does not seem to be a general fault that is affecting huge numbers of players.
There is a general fault just introduced that is causing small stutters throughout game play on pretty much everyone's machines. It is possible that your system configuration is choking on those. Hard to say.
If I were you and needed to do something, I would probably try to get my system back to a default state. Possibly be first doing a recovery from a System Restore point. If one exists that was prior to all the issues.
I wish you the best of luck with this!

its a weird fix but it really did sort out everything, the top comment on that video blames it on eac which i dont know if its true but its whats preventing me from doing the fix xd.
the priority mod from nexus made the freezing a lot less frequent but now i cant unfreeze with the windows key but only by alt tabbing. weird situation overall and i guess ill try to just suck it up and play this way since its the only game with an issue like this. thanks again for the help mate!
They could be an issue and it does not hurt anything to disable them in the BIOS/UEFI if that option is available. And yes, at this stage it is certainly worth investigating. :)
