question about accessing elden ring sooner with a vpn

1. is it possible for me to use a vpn to play the game earlier for example switching to new zealand timezone? (im est)
2. if this is the case would my account be at risk for getting banned?

We don't know the release schedule yet. It could be a global release, meaning everyone gets it at the same time.

It wouldn't work, your country is tied to your Steam account, VPN not going to make a difference.

EDIT - seems like people have tried it and you can indeed unlock games early using VPN, i remember reading somewhere that steam changed a few things to stop VPN users from getting regional prices on games, so i assumed the same applied to unlocking games early, guess they don't care too much if people do this. Regarding getting banned, you probably wouldn't as others have already tried it.

It's a simultaneous release, which means it releases at the same time for everybody, but obviously it's not going to be the same 'time' for everybody.

Once the timer on the store page lowers from 'days' you will know at which time it unlocks for you.

Also, lemme tell you a secret. Uncle Gabe doesn't like you playing with VPN's that much.

it's more than likely that it will be world wide release chosen at a specific hour (like 10 est for example)

That is absolutely not true. You can use a VPN to download games early. People have been doing it since Steam launched.

That's not true, I've done it with multiple games. You don't have to change your account's country like you do when buying a game.

The only caveat is you have to turn the VPN back on every time you launch the game, up until the point that it's officially released in your time zone.

Yes, but you'll have to also get a time machine with it, or at least a time altering tunnel.

As for being banned for using a vpn or altering time, maybe.
