Yep same sentiment
Our player character is gimped , deflection makes us stand toe to toe with the boss and once the player gets the block timings down , it's satisfying asf
Ill try playing with that tear in my next NG+ cycle seems interesting
Except for bayle anything that has a sword is punishable
Thanks dude
It essentially gives you a very wide window to press block and if your timing is good, you won't take any hit to your stamina and take no chip damage when your blocking armament has less than 100% physical absorb.
Good synergy with regen spells too, if you miss a parry.
It sometimes catches multiple attacks as well and guard counters hit harder and for more (stance) damage, iirc.
Lasts for several minutes, long enough for any boss fight and is a fun tool and equalizer against aggressive bosses with good readability.
Several things
1.) if you deflect in the correct window of an enemy attack you can block 100% of the damage.
if you miss the window you will take chip damage and not get +20% on your next Guard Counter
2.) Each successful deflect within i think 5 seconds time ( 1st to 4th deflect) span increases the damage of your next Guard Counter by +20% additive. up to +80%
this stacks multiplicative with other buffs.
I have done a 6500 damage opening Guard Counter vs Rellana for example
you can make some really crazy hits with Royal Knights Resolve and this Tear for
1,8*1,8 damage boost on some bosses
The tear lasts 5 minutes
its not as good as in Sekiro though since you can be poise broken by boss even if you deflect perfectly.
Some attacks and some attack combos will still run you over even with perfect deflect
5 minutes? it's basically a boss fight lmao if you have big enough damage
by bosses even with perfect deflect when they break your poise
you will get poise damage even with perefct deflect
if you plan to just deflect every attack till the boss ends his combo and then use guard counter once he is finished that does not really work all that much.
Sometimes it works but a lot of the time you will get poise broken and thrown over
