If you want to proc rot fast and with 1 cast use Scarlet Aeonia, it is "less safe" but "can proc rot with 1 cast only" also deals much more damage from the explosion (sometimes the Aeonia explosion deal enough for half a rot dragon breath dmg/s)
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Scarlet+Aeonia
It got a lot of buffs and even some decent hyper armor (can take a Godfrey axe into the face without interruptions) also one or two casts are enough to rot a boss for good. The other alternative are the hefty rot pots wich are perfectly farmable.
Here is me doing some practice with it (it was my second day of attempts, probably some 1h of practice before that video, stil check how much damage it deals and how fast it procs if you do a full explosion+charge at bosses and enemies): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Sgy8UOnzs8
It explodes dealling damage then is around 100dmg/s for some 90s (so... 9K dmg)
I think 100dmg/s on a 25K target is 0.4%dmg/s, being 36%HP of the target for each proc of Scarlet Aeonia.
Rotten Breath still has the benefits of ridiculously low requirements and being available like in first 30 minutes of gameplay or even earlier if you kill Agheel fast. It is an invaluable tool for low-level runs. In PvP it is arguably better than Aeonia because it is harder to dodge or run away from, and it rots just fine. Aeonia is good for what it does but it requires 36 fth and beating friggin Malenia
I was going to say the same thing, Scarlet Aeonia is great for rot buildup, mostly if you have a phantom out or something though, the wind up takes a little too long if alone.
Pffft i stopped being a low level character two days after Elden Ring relase! But yes all you have to do is to kill Ekzykes in Caelid (fire obliterates him) and if you dont want to face two pissed off banished knights sneak into the Dragon Communion church (the Caelid one, not sure if Limgrave church grants all the incantations). I had high RL characters in mind before suggesting the flower!
Oh also remember your mimic can contribute to build up rot with any incantation or consumables you have equiped.
