So what are the mandatory NPC summons?
Very annoyed this is actually a thing in this game. I'm at the Putrescent Knight and i just saw Thiollier gold sign on the ground. Do i have to summon him there to further his quest?

I was also told Igon is pretty much mandatory when you fight Bayle (i mean, if you want to finish his quest).

I know Radahn requires some too, though i was told in his case you only have to do it once. Like, you summon the NPC, suicide, and then you can just do the boss solo from there on. Not sure about the rest however.

Not sure why they did this they are putting those of us who want to do the fights solo in a weird position. I even tried using that talisman that draws the enemy focus on you with the Putrescent Knight but it doesn't seem to do much. The boss still turns his focus on Thiollier and i get free opportunity to stomp him feels like a cheat.

Nope, I completed that without summoning him cause i never saw that summon sign lol, can confirm at least that one you dont need to summon him to further his quest

I heared that you don't need to summon Igor to do his quest. If I had to guess I would say you can probably do every NPC quest without having to summon them for the boss fights. They just continue normally as if you summoned them, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the only required summons for a sidequest are:
Hornsent against Messmer
Ansbach and Thioller against Leda

You do NOT need to summon for Radahn

Summoning isn't required to progress NPC quests. However, Hornsent's quests changes depending on whether or not you summon him to Messmer's fight. How it concludes will change.

I believe that you need Igon and Hornsent, and to pick a side for Leda/Hornsent and Leda/Ansbach.

you summoned Thollier and Ansbach for Radahn ? they drop their items after the fight even if you don't summon them, thankfully
