My question is, this scaling applies to physical damage and not skill damage, no?

If I want to increase skill damage, should I increase Dex/Str, or INT?"

Lightning scales with Dex, and I do believe the ash on Gransax is lightning.

For this weapon it scales with dex. Most lightening usually scales with faith.

Lightning damage itself from ashes of war, pots, and greases scale off dex alone. Incantations still scale off faith regardless of damage type.
