Honestly, I used the lore to help. Scarlet Rot took him down the first time, then again when we fight him if you used the knowledge, and so I thought it would work here too.
I start the battle buffing using every holy resistant option from spells to items, go in with a scarlet aeonia, hope it procs, and then back off to heal. Following that go in for the occasional hit here and there while the dot does its job.
Second phase comes in, and sadly the rot resets. Same strategy, refresh defense buffs and regen when you can, and punish while the dot continues. I did have ansbach and mimic there to there to draw aggro on occasion. The mimic tear got his heart stolen to allow for me to get the final blow in. Unforgettable lmao.
Now I am on my original character, which is fth/str in ng+. I've beaten everyone except The centipede lady, bayle, and consort (all solo) since I am more used to this type of build. This time I capped myself at 170 for more pvp and co-op too, at scooby level 15. It's been rough, but I am looking forward to the fight now that I have something I consider to be a better fit for my playstyle. Pray for me regardless though lol.
Talismans: Dragoncrest Greatshield, Golden Braid, Two-Heade Turtle, Axe Talisman.
Flask tears for faster stamina regen and more charged attack damage.
Was buffing at the fog wall with Golden Vow + Flame, grant me strenght. If he did gravity dive then tried to rot him with Scarlet Aeonia, fought normally if he didnt. In phase 2 buffed with Lords Divine Protection.
Stats:
VIg 60
Mind 30
End 35
Str 30
Dex 30
Int 7
Fth 80
Arc 10
Took me around 4 hrs to beat him.
Edit: Forgot to mention blessing lvl 19
Carian Sovereignty on a Heavy Thrusting Sword, I wasnt using the pokey cheesy though. I was spamming the AOW when I got the chance.
First big change up in surviving was using a shield. lol. Then the Shield Talisman.
Second big change up that got me over the edge was Morgots Great Rune combined with
Crimsonspill Cracked Tear.
So I had the humongous AOW damage. The ability to block most combo hit except the last. Still had to dodge. Still had to learn Radahns move set. And finally I had a forgiving health bar.
I was originally a DEX Build using either double Curved Swords or Eleanoras Poleblade (which I beat all but one DLC boss with without mimic or NPCS, some of them first try!). I saw acouple of videos on facebook how awesome Carian Sovereignty was and I had yet to switch to any of the DLC stuff coz it all sucked so much compared to my original DEX build weapons.
The fight was actually fun by the end of all my changes. But no I couldnt of done it this way without the Mimic.
Oh Scooby Blessing +17
I did change aows a bit, started with lightning slash, but impaling thrust ended up feeling way better.
I gave a single try with ansbach and thollier but they boost his hp a bit too much so I dropped that idea lol.
I feel like in ds3 I could much more often just "react" to things, but with consort radahn (and honestly with ER in general) it seems he has so many moves u "have to know" in order to deal with them, maybe I'm just imagining things or just am super washed up and bad but I dunno, I'm so over having to spend hours upon hours on a single boss unless I REALLY enjoy the fight, like I did with Gael and Midir and a lot of other ds3 bosses, in ER I enjoyed like about 3 boss fights, those being Morgott, Godfrey and Rellana.
just a question what thorns spell is it? is it morgotts?
Morgott doesn't have any thorn spells silly. U find this one in shadow keep

Took me about 100 tries
Just wait for Mimic tear to draw aggro then use your skill/ spell and then hold up shield and wait for mimic to take the aggro again.
Works on any build as long as you can hold fingerprint.
For advance players who want to try this solo:
You need to use high burst high damage op skills/ spells to finish the fight asap.
On some builds you can pretty much reach phase 2 in first 10 second of entrance.
Another way is try to learn parrying . He is one of the easier bosses to parry and it's super effective against him.
LOl plz stop !
thats bs...
Summon mimic at start
get hit in face by gravity jump and lose 40-50% health
safely roll away in downtime of radahn after attack
heal up to 100%
fight starts
I am getting so tired of people saying mimic makes a fight harder
no it doesnt !
never and there is no exception
These people probably NEVER beat a single dlc boss w.o the mimic tear, that's why they have this delusional thought thinking mimic makes the fight harder.
Mimic tear simply has too much hp in dlc, does too much damage, and can draw out aggro easily for you to heal and spam ash of war/ spells without consequences.
Look at my other post trying to beat the whole dlc w.o summon, the boss difficulty DRASTICALLY changes , and half of the easy bosses becomes quite challenging.
