Took quite a few attempts where I mostly failed in phase 2. basically just tried to hit him as many times as necessary to apply scarlet rot and then survive.
Talisman were Dragoncrest, braid, two handed and spear.
The only other thing I did is pump to 15 faith and cast golden path after drinking faith physick. I used opaline hardtear as my other half.
Felt a lot less unfair the 2nd time when you really learn his moveset.
A good tip is to tank his nuke in his 2nd phase. Heal up and cast buffs to bait him into doing his nuke, then run to him and you can pull off a heavy attack. Tank the nuke, and you can pull off 2 heavy attacks when he lands. Should get him down to 40%.
At 30% (health bar below name), you can increase aggression massively, as he'll very likely jump up for his meteor. You can get off 2-3 heavy hits if you time it right and are lucky. That'll get him down to only 2-3 hits to win after he lands.
After he lands, I found I died very often due to getting greedy. Not sure if it's something in the code, but he always ends up with just a sliver of health left. Always stay at maximum health and play very conservative.
Its just being much more careful with phase 2 than phase 1. Phase 1 is training mode, to learn all his attacks and learn how to deal with them. Phase 2 demands a near perfect understanding of all his phase 1 attacks, and a good understanding of his additional phase 2 attacks.
Watch no hit runs to understand what to do much better.
A big part of luck is his meteor sling. That attack is pretty hard to deal with in phase 2, and if he does it too much, you're unlikely to win.
I used Light Roll and it took ~3 hours.
Took 4 attempts to beat Radahn. Died to grab once and twice to the meteor, fourth time I chugged damage reduction bubble mixture and made a sad attempt to run away. Still got hit, but survived and managed to kill him without too much trouble. Malenia was much harder for this type of character.
I wouldn't call Malenia a joke
