Turn off steam client beta. It worked for me yesterday and I've had no issue since :)
at the moment since tuesdays maintance a steam issue exists, all beta clients cause crashes with elden ring.
click on the upper left corner steam > settings > interface if a beta is activated deactivate the beta.
if this is not the problems cause post your crash log.

Been having the same issue as this OP & many others since DLC/update dropped. I am not already opted in the Steam Beta & never bothered with it. So it's not the cause.
I too play the base game. Starting to suspect that buying the DLC would "solve" the issue. Most people I see bringing this issue up don't seem to have the DLC. 40$ is a bit of a steep price to test this theory though, even if begging for a refund is possible.
Also worth noting: It's not a windows 11 issue it's the game/anti-cheat. I use an older version of windows & am having the same problem.
and I don't have the dlc either
1. Deleted all folders associated with EasyAntiCheat on my PC, then verified the game files.
2. Run Steam as an administrator.
3. Ensured EasyAntiCheat, and Elden Ring had full control under permissions.
4. Uninstalled/disabled Riot Vanguard.
I'm not sure what exactly fixed the issue, but it's been working fine for me now.
