Golden Hippopotamus hard?
You want to tell me this boss is hard? Seriously? Before fight i spent all my runes to make sure i dont loose any of them and bam... It goes down first try! What i was expecting mega suffering like i did in base game fighting Crucible Knight at Stormhill Evergaol where on my first gameplay i died more than 170 times before learning you can parry him :)

Seriously ppl "get good and praise the message" :er_heart:

They fixed his hitbox, it was the same issue as with Gaius, now both are easy.

Nah he's not hard. Unless you're very unlucky (he can spam several aoe in a row) then i'd say he's one of the weakest bos in DLC.

he shot those spears just once before going down ... mostly he have Colossal Bear moves
He was nerfed in a patch. Pre-nerfed version grab attack had glitchy hitbox of a tower size. And maybe some other adjustions.
Now it's easier.
I can't lie it's so far my favourite DLC bossfight for some reason, in a first week of DLC there was something really primal in fighting this beast and helping people that didn't had any scooby-doo fragments with them.
Now it goes in a seconds with a thorns build or other bleed.
Still, cool and not overly challenging/cheap boss.

in my fight he didnt even had a chance for grabs ... guess i will do this dlc again at some point whith worse build :)
He went down pretty easily for me but I was a decent scadutree level by the time I found him. Got him on the second attempt. Nearly had him first time but he caught me out with the grab attack.

Why is it even called a hippopotamus? It looks more like some naked molerat with magic porcupine powers.

Never died more than a few times to any Crucible Knight even on my first playthrough and never ever used parry in any Souls game or Elden Ring as it was never needed and never found them to be "all that hard"...

Now I ask you how could you find Crucible Knights hard and you thinking of the answer you will see how people can find Golden Hippopotamus hard.

It is technically the same skeleton as Sulyvahn's Beasts from Dark Souls 3, which were in fact oversized rat/croc hybrids. But they made its head look sorta kinda like a hippo.

False! to get to hippo you need to get some exp of game ... crucible was one of first bosses i ever faced in ER 2 years ago (at that point didnt even play any souls games)

Of course in this playthrough i think it went down on 5th attempt if i remember correctly and without parry :)
He isn't hard, he has limited moveset and is easily staggerable.

Well, for a first playthrough, still, "I" dont see how it would take 170 attempts, also dodging (or even jumping) is easier (more lenient unless you are fatrolling or baby jumping, both possible things but I doubt) and more intuitive given how you yourself said to be playing:

and it did not seem you was playing using parry or else first thing you would had tried was parrying him.
dude fought the boss after soft fixed the game they already sold, dude played on easy mode and wants a gold medal.

First time i got Greataxe and was playing as berserk so neither parry nor armours was my thing :) and since i was not familiar with souls games here you go 170+ deaths :)
