I'm really stumped on Promised Consort Radahn right now
I'm 2 or 3 hours into fighting him, without summons, and I don't know what to do. I was reluctant to read tips for him online but I did that anyway, and none of the tips helped, everyone is saying use bleed and frost and use a great-shield, but I am not doing any of that. I don't know when the hell I get chance to attack or heal, and his combos are one after the other and never end. I've been getting him to exactly 1/3 HP for 2 hours now, and nothing has changed. I'm wondering how everyone else feels about him at the moment and if people are experiencing the same as me.

1.) Make it a habit to dodge towards his right side (left from your pov), by doing this you will avoid his light beams that drop after every swing on phase 2.

2.) Forget about fully dodging his 1-2 cross attack, it almost impossible cause the iframes aren't there unless you're positioning yourself for it. More than likely you'll dodge the first swing then get hit by the second swing then there's a short delay and his cross swing. after the cross swing always heal unless you're confidant, you'll have enough time for 2 flasks or a big punish window after this attack set. (and don't dodge backwards on the cross swing in the end, you'll get hit so dodge towards him)

3.) The best punish window for radhan is when he does a stomp, vertical chop then 1-2 swing and an overhead swing followed by a seismic tremor. After the tremor you have a big opening to punish him, you can may even get an ash in too.

4.) On phase 2 when he does that attack where he throws those gravity rocks at you he will always follow up with those five clone overhead attacks. Listen closely, when he starts the gravity rock attack dodge backwards repeatedly or run backwards if you don't have light roll. Once he releases the rocks and they are getting close to you pause and dodge to the left and immediately backwards again. Now you should be out of range of the clone slams, but this is where you want to count, on the forth clone slam dodge towards him and then again after the aoe. Now you have another massive punish window and hopefully you didn't get hit up until this point in this attack set.

5.) On phase 2 where he does that trippy supersonic dash towards you, you want to dodge twice to the right and you'll fully dodge it. The hitbox on this is really weird, if you accidentally dodge once to left you can recover by dodging again to the right., but dodging twice to the left has got me killed instantly a lot of times. I didn't want to include this one cause the hit box is really weird.

There's way more I can share but these are the most important tips about his moveset and punish window imo

(and btw a big punish window in this day and age of fromsoft games is two light attacks/three with a light poke weapon)

Heal after the x-cut, meteor dive, slow 2-hit combo and at the end of his long combo.

Try to enter into a kind of zone state and learn to clean dodge all his easy stuff, and then find a way to survive his nasty second phase long combos and heal after them. Use antspur.

Finally some tips that actually help that are not just "use meta" or "cheese him". I feel like he's gonna get nerfed hard soon cause he has attacks that are not really possible to dodge.

you want summon? ill jump in

dodge into most of his phase 2 melee attacks, i found it way easier to avoid the extra lights and be in range to attack.

i heard from a friend that you can use Raptor of the Mists to avoid his meteor attack late in phase 2, like without running away. i haven't tried it yet though

Thank you but no, I've done every remembrance boss with no summons my brain is telling me to do the last one solo. Not that I denounce summons, I personally just don't use them.

Interesting fact, also I was wondering how to deal with his phase 2 attacks so that helped. One thing I do know is that he is more dangerous if you are far away, so I always stick close.

Get lots of holy resistance. Simply moving left will dodge a lot of random lightshow attacks.

I found the golden braid and started using that, it does help a ton. Same with dragoncrest greatshield talisman.

if you have Miquella's great rune, use it for phase 2. it dispels the charm he places on you. when he jumps in the air, its best to be below him so his repeated projection strikes don't get you. mimic tear kinda helps if you're open to using ash summons, but for some reason he'll ignore it and keep attacking you sometimes in my experience.

Had no clue about the great rune. Thanks for the info!

Yea feels impossible. 50 more tries today and got him from 40% yesterday to 30% today at best

I think he looks cool, the lore is also cool, but the mechanics just are not fun. Compare him to Gael from DS3, who is the final boss of DS3's DLC, Gael is fun, challenging, and rewarding, while still staying cool lore and design wise.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you for these tips, I can tell these took a lot of research in-game for you to find out.

"None of the tips helped, everybody says to use bleed or frost or a greatshield, but I'm not doing any of that".

Maybe the tips aren't helping because you aren't following any of them?

Greatshield makes the entire fight pretty straightforward. Even if you don't regularly use a greatshield, bringing a greatshield to this particular fight can help you learn the attacks and hit boxes and the dodge timing. Think about the blocking as internalizing the hit box timing instead of seeing "you died" over and over.
