That's not really the problem with radahn.
And what about the holy damage mitigation?. Make sure you can survive everything Radhan throws at you first.....
Elden has some issue with oversized boss. Auto-lock is a mess against those big giant since it ♥♥♥♥ your camera view. And as big they are, your hit connect 1 time of 3, because the boss just run back and forth while flying. The game turn into a ressources managment.
Radahn is on super speed, he just doesnt let you scratch your nose one seconde. For you to hit him like only 1-2 times before he start again his combo. How is it enjoyable ?!
BUT, once you try him on tank gears with a shield... it's a complete different world... you know, shield/poke is a boring playstyle, but seems one of the only one that can get you trough DLC. I did try him on my colossal weap build for 4 days before I said ♥♥♥♥ it and used shield/poke and kill him the second attempt.
The main point is, you can't take down those boss with your personal build. Like it need a specific kind of playstyle to manage to survive the fight.
I mean, that was just kinda your choice. I only have one playthrough for elden ring, and my motto was, pick up the biggest weapon I can find, until I could freely just use colossals. And that's what I did. Figured out how to beat it with my personal build of using a giant hammer.
How many time did it take you ?!
I tried for four days and just went in cheez mode after getting annoyed. After those days, first phase was easy, but the second was a mess and turned into a ressources managment. So I shield/poked him to death.
Maybe after 2 weeks I could've done it with my regular build, but time hasnt the same value for everyone.
oh, that's just the tip of the iceberg. once you get past his insane damage, then you have to deal with being blinded half the match.
A long time. A lot less than Malenia though.
Time doesn't have the same value for everyone, but your own personal value of time is irrelevant to whether or not a boss is properly designed.
We should nerf Radahn because you wanted to beat him in 4 days instead of 2 weeks?
Also
Every boss fight in soulsbourne games to me is a resource management calculation, so not entirely sure why that's an issue here.
I'm still pissed off that I never realized I could just run away from his levitation blast, and his comet blast. It just looked like the whole arena got blasted by light.
It's not much better with 89% Physical and 99 Vigor. He hits really hard and in my opinion deserves a nerf. But not to damage. Fix the size of weapon hitboxes because currently Fromsoft is visually lying to the player, since his hit box extends roughly two feet in any direction from his already ginormous swords. Then fix the 2nd phase disco party to be more coherent, with less passive stagger.
After that they should wait a while and see if his damage needs to be changed, as it stands currently he's simply unpolished.
Bear that in mind if you are summoning them for every attempt.
Yeah the phase 2 disco party is just utterly ridiculous for the reasons you and other people have said. It's not damage output. It's just this fight feels miserable and excessively unfair.
