It wasn't until PVE speed runners started realizing that even something like a light greatsword was arguable better then 90% of vanilla weapons.
Practically every single dlc weapon is a pvp killer.
Great katanas - goat
Thrusting shield- Literally banned
Reverse blades - blind spot says hello
New dual curved swords - best in class
New UGS - ridiculous
Even the absolute holdouts like Yowy are like yep I was wrong sorry guys.
Don't even get me started on all the auto win range weapons.
Its just status to the face all day long.
Imagine how free equipable throwing daggers are but it also eats your entire life bar.
I barely ever see the sword from the final boss. I personally use a weapon found midway through the game. I've seen a ton of Bloodhound Fang, a weapon you get very early on. Elden Ring didn't have that before, and the DLC weapons are leaps and bounds beyond even the old best weapons. PVP is pretty weak right now at high levels because of it.
In what universe is every single dlc weapon not amazing?
Like do you literally need someone to make a video speed running bosses with every weapon to believe they are good?
Are you sheeping that hard bro?
Just because someone did one with light greatsword and it's not even the best weapon in the dlc...it was instantly rated S tier.
Think for yourself, actually test things.
Discover knowledge.
You would have like an A+ tier martial arts build for pvp.
Thank God I dont listen to people and just do my own thing because the BAH RAM YOU is real.
Overall he is pretty spot on but it also shows like you said that just being creative and testing yourself can reveal great set ups. An example is the rennalla twinblade he is not a fan of and perhaps at a meta level maxing at 150 that is correct due to quad scaling. But at high levels that quad scaling gives one of the best AR's in the entire game.

As it stands, I'd say most of the DLC weapons are fantastic. There are always a few duds though. The imp hatchet, the final boss swords, the Horned Warrior paired swords, both daggers, the new flail is still a flail, the Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear, yada yada yada. And I'm not saying that any of those are Torchpole unusable, just that they're wildly underwhelming or outclassed. There are a ton of really great DLC weapons though, a better percentage than in the base game.
