wish some of the new gear was in base game!
Does anyone else feel this way? By the time I beat Mogh and got into Shadow realm, I was something like lvl 185, had cleared almost all the base game except post-cauldron. By this point I had settled on playstyle, invested in upgrading my weapon choice (Rusty anchor strength build with faith support).

I know you can use larval tears to redistribute your points, and you can get a lot of smith stones exploring the shadow realm, but I cant help feel it would be cool to be able to start game with a character who had specialisation in the new styles, like a barefist Shaolin monk or alchemist with perfume and pots, or a water dancer with backhanded blades and daggers.

Or incorporating some of the new loot and skills into base game so its not so gatekept by the mother ***** of gate keepers.

New game plus doesnt feel like the solution because by that time, one just melts through the earlier bosses and you've already collected pretty much everything and levelling up costs hundreds of thousands of runes minimum.

I've noticed a few youtuber videos 'speed running' access to shadow realm, and they just seem to sap the enjoyment out of the early struggle for me (though I do enjoy a good bit of cheese)

there are mods that make new game plus as hard as a first playthrough. Or a merchant mod where you can buy everything in the game from kale.

This.

This is how you do it. I'm not a fan of ng+ either. So just get a mule.

Like when I finally did a faith character in ds3. There was no way I was gonna rush to ashes of ariandel just to get the boss weapo.

i kinda feel the opposite.. i definitely didnt finish the addon yet (one reason of it being just more of the same).. but all the new clothes for example seem like totaly useless... i dont even see ANY reason to make the droprate higher. maybe that changes later tho..

I really wish you didn't have to wait until basically post-game to get great katanas or hand-to-hand fighting arts.

Even some of the base game gear is practically useless once you advance far enough to get it. Like, the Golden Order Greatsword is an amazingly designed weapon, but by the time you get it chances are all the enemies you are fighting have holy resistance to the moon.

I think FromSoft should support an official way to enjoy more of the game's equipment earlier. Like, maybe some kind of system such that if any one of your characters finds any equipment, you have the option to start a new character using that as your starting equipment - basically being able to completely customize your armor and weapons based on what you discovered in the game.

It has also annoyed me how hard it is to dual wield certain weapons. Like, how is it that there is only a single example of a Long Sword in the entire lands between? It's not even possible to dual wield two of the same twinblade in a single play-through unless you get someone to drop you a weapon. Artificial limitations like this around weapons just mean people are funneled into cookie cutter builds.
