What are good button settings for controller (xbox)?
I use a controller with default layout and it feels like i'm trying to play the game one handed compared to M&K. I can't do some actions simultaneously like I can on M&K, for example I can't use pouch items while walking because I have to let go of left stick to press dpad

I have flexible digits, so I can press the left stick with the side of my thumb while using the d-pad.

I just bend down my index finger to where it needs to be when my thumb is busy with the stick, you get used to it
If you have to go to those lengths then i just don't understand people who say souls games are better on controller. Performing finger gymnastics to do basic actions that are a given on m&k is just wild

because it's not even an issue and everything else is much more comfortable, MKB is 10 times the amount of work for 1.1 times the benefit
When I need to give Torrent a snack, I hold Y with my right index finger, curled around a bit, and use my right thumb to hit D-pad left.

If you've got rear buttons you can bind one to Y which would make that a bit easier. I have both right side rear buttons bound to Right stick click, for lock on, and both left side bound to B, for sprinting.

Why is MKB 10 times more work? You rebind it once and have 2 times the benefit for the rest of time. Aside from opening the menu you don't have to move your hands around nor do any gymnastics to do anything

Its not finger gymnastics lmao.

If it's too hard for you to reach the dpad with your free hand, then sure I understand why you use m&k.

All because it's hard and you feel like it's gymnastics to use a video game controller, doesn't mean that everyone else has the same dexterity problems.

More power to you if you have to use m&k.

what free hand? I don't have two thumbs on my left hand to use left stick and dpad simultaneously. Is it the case where you've been using a controller for so long for different layouts that you don't even notice the motions you do are unnatural and unintuitive? That's the only explanation i can relate to since i used some weird keybinds in other games in the past long enough to feel natural

With an Xbox controller, you can use your right thumb to operate the d-pad, leaving your left thumb free to move your character around.

But then you have to press XYBA with index finger which is an awkward movement, and you can't move your camera while doing so

Yeah that's what I do. I'm surprised the other guy is able to use his left thumb for both analog and dpad. P cool.

It's not perfect, but it is a way to move around while cycling through items/spells/inventory.

This game would solve a lot of problems by making sprint toggle on/off by pushing L3 (like almost every other game that uses a sprint these days), and toggle crouch by holding down B, but for whatever reason, they insist on making you hold down B to sprint, tying up a finger for no reason, but I digress.

GL.
