Reloading or restarting game fixes them temporarily.
I was able to be summoned, greeted the other players and then after 10 seconds:
"A connection error occurred, returning to your world."
------------------------
2. I tried using a different internet connection (of my neighbor) all together. Same problems.
------------------------
3. I reinstalled the whole game. No avail. Same problem with both characters.
------------------------
4. I reset my internet adapters. No dice.
------------------------
5. Reinstalled video drivers (long shot, I know). Nothing.
------------------------
6. Watched a tutorial on how to reinstall Easy Anti Cheat. Did that. Nothing.
------------------------
I see all shadows/ghosts of other players, see messages. I'm in online mode and everything works, but as soon as I want to invade/summon/be summoned ... nothing.
It's like my whole Elden Ring player ID is corrupted.
And this all started Tuesday evening (german time).
It worked for weeks before that with no issues.
¿Que se puede hacer?
choose the server closest to you, set test duration to 90 seconds, keep all other settings default, and do not navigate to another window or browser tab while the test is running. what is your upload, download and total packet loss? souls multiplayer is HEAVILY effected by packet loss, but only minimally effected by speed/bandwidth, so you need to use this packet loss test, and not a typical speed test if you want to check connection quality in regards to souls/ER pvp/co-op.
testing by trying your neighbors connection is not adequate, as i assume you are logging into their wi-fi from a house or two away, and this can cause a huge amount of additional packet loss. wi-fi already causes additional packet loss when compared to ethernet, and then when you add the fact that your neighbors signal is probably weak/far away from you, its naturally going to be a poor quality connection, so if your problem is a poor quality connection in your house, using a neighbors wi-fi will be just as bad or worse, even if they have a faster/better quality plan from their ISP.
the packet loss test is a very easy first step to rule out a poor connection quality on your end. if you have a connection that drops a lot of packets, it can 100% cause the issues you describe.
also, is this problem happening literally every single time, or just frequently? are you able to get any successful co-op sessions, even if they are rare? are you able to summon other player's signs? are you able to invade? can you get an arena match? you should try invading and arena a few times and see what happens - even if you are not interested in pvp, you could just goof off and throw the match just to test it.
if you are able to get into any kind of multiplayer session, even if its very rare to do so, do the pve enemies or other players seem laggy? do you see them skip or slide around, or miss animations entirely? is there a significant, +1 second delay in hit confirm?
I don't have this issue in any other game.
Yes, I can join PVP/Arena/COOP but am disconnected after 10 seconds. I can greet players with emotes and we run a bit and then the message pops.
Sometimes, say out of 5 tries, one try doesn't even let me join, giving me the message instantly after touching the summon sign.
I see all ghost messages, I see all summon signs (PVP and COOP).
I can summon and the player can greet me, but gets kicked after about 10 seconds.
It's really weird. My account seems to be softbanned or something (though I never modded my save in any way).
And no, the enemies don't appear to be laggy. Singleplayer seems to be completely unaffected and I'm definitely online, considering my messages get rated and I can rate messages and see ghosts.
The kicker for me is, that even a newly created character has that issue. My whole account is borked or something else. But how come I'm the only one?
as said before, since the patch shortly before the dlc released eac got a new implementation, since this time it can colide with the netcode and causing timeouts, it is not known at the moment what factors have influence into the problem.
you are not the only one with this problem.
