does putting heavy affinity on a magic AoW take away from its damage? also another question.
im trying to use the banished knights great sword with Carian Great sword will making it heavy affinity take away from the AoW damage? Also should i use the great sword as mentioned or the carian knights sword?

AoW damage scales with the default affinity, regardless of what you actually infuse it with.

For example, if you put Thunderbolt on a weapon but infuse it Heavy, the actual skill damage will still scale with your character's DEX, even if the weapon no longer has DEX scaling, since the default affinity for Thunderbolt is Lightning.

In your case, Carian Greatsword should deal the same damage regardless of the affinity, the only thing that would influence it is your INT and the weapon enhancement level.

As for which weapon you should use, that all depends on your stats.
