Is It Just My Mimic

Is it just my mimic that stands around half of the time playing with himself, seemingly aroused by watching me get my ass kicked? I mean it takes forever to engage in combat and when it does it barely uses any good attacks and will spend most of its time just running around without engaging a boss. It didn't used to be like this. Did the mimic get nerfed with the DLC?

Do you update your summons with Revered Spirit ashes in DLC?

run towards your mimic and kite the boss into it
problem solved.

Its still extremly easy with mimic.

but you cant just summon mimic and then read a book on the other screen

Hmmm I distinctly remember my mimic immediately kicking ass when summoned - even in the DLC.

Throw Cursed Blood Pots at a boss. All Spirit Ashes, including the Mimic Tear, will go hella aggressive just like the red-eyed summons.

It's pretty random, but yes, there are times when the mimic just wanders around the arena doing nothing, and sometimes it does a good job. I still don't know why. What I've noticed personally is that it usually works better when there's another NPC in the arena. When it's just you and the mimic, sometimes it acts like it's bugged.

I use the Greatshield Soldier Ashes more than the mimic. They're very aggressive and always draw aggro because there are five of them. They don't work well on certain boss types like Metyr because the thing is in the air a lot of the time, or bosses that have a powerful AOE attack close to them.

I am not condescending i am telling facts
i did beat dlc every boss except radahn 1st try with mimic
and that blind without knowing any of the bosses

so yeha
all fine just kite the boss towards your mimic

And I know why, you have incantatons selected with a magic weapon.
Mimic just change weapons at random so it is absolutely 100% your fault.
I set my mimic against Elden Beast with just 2 Golden Halberds there is no mistake it will rush toward the Elden Beast and will engage attacking the elden beast.
If I set my mimic with incantation weapon and dragon rot breath it will use "mostly" this (unless by some random chance it decides to change to golden halberd) but if I dont want this to happen and want mimic to spam just the incantation (that I used to have just 1 to make it simple) I just remove the golgen halberd (or golden halberds) and select the incantation weapon before summoning the mimic aand voila, mimic will always spam the incantation whenever at range.

Mimic have very basic AI and wil not know how to deal with situations if you give it too many options or if you dont summon it with the weapon you want it to use.

Also, Props for summoning your mimic with shield on top of that, the mimic have a choice ready there (rise up shield) and you left nothing else for it to use (so the mimic kept using shield up as action)... again, 100% your fault.
