Physick I prefer to run with Magic and Fire tears as they give the largest buff to my damage all around, but Crimsonwhorl is effective against troublesome non-physical damage spam(also works against physical-type SPELLS i think? it worked against the gravity magic in some boss fights, not sure about Gurranq's beast incants)
Armor is Page Hood, Vulgar Militia Armor, Common Soldier Gauntlets(dlc), Exile Greaves- all for the drippy fashionsouls since it literally won't matter what your defenses are, if you get hit you die
Right Hand is Obsidian Lamina[dlc](or Helphen's Steeple if you prefer to melee with the ghostflame buff active giving you an extra 240 AR at max scadu/Death's Poker if you prefer to mix your attacks together with the Ghostflame Ignition Skill/Magma Wyrm Scale Sword/Cold or Flame Art or Blood Mantis Blade[I'm biased toward the cool unfolding Heavy] or Grave Scythe with Quickstep or Bloodhound Step or Raptor of the Mist/[can use any melee you want but these keep the general theme of ghostflame and magma but be sure to mind your weight% unless you're actually good using Fat Roll, Bloodfiend's Arm from DLC also fits but makes you heavy, Falx from the DLC is also drippy for the build if wildly suboptimal]), Prince of Death's Staff(430 scaling!), Golden Order Seal(391 Scaling)
Left Hand is Bone Bow[dlc](Rancor Shot is kind of slept on with the insane tracking) with status arrows[bleed/poison/sleep/frost- pick 2], Twinbird Kite Shield with Vow of the Indomitable[if you're bad at dodging certain attacks with awkward animations- total invulnerability against EVERYTHING for 1 whole second at 30fps] or No Skill[if you prefer one-hand and shield playstyle](an extra ADDITIVE Red-Branch and Blue-Branch talisman effect of +5%)
Spells, in order, are: Rykard's Rancor, Roiling Magma, Messmer's Orb[dlc], Ansbach's Furious Blade[dlc]/Bloodflame Talons, Mass of Putrescence[dlc], Vortex of Putrescence[dlc], and Night Maiden's Mist
Use Night Maiden's Might to set up low health, stand in for 5 ticks then WALK or RUN out, do not roll unless you tick 6- if you tick 6 then spam roll to not die. The extra 25% damage boost from Red-Branch and Twinbird is nothing to scoff at, one can one-shot or nearly one-shot most players depending on their VIG and defenses, and you'll be taking visibly large chunks out of bosses in a short time.
Spells are mostly to zone in PVP with how they are almost entirely delayed, persisting damage, the only exceptions are Messmer's Orb and Ansbach's Furious Blade/Bloodflame Talons being more suited to punishing in close-to-melee range. In PVE, you can just set up as much delayed damage as you're able to with Rykard's(best spammed up close to get as many hits in)/Roiling(set it up near your feet or near the enemy if unaware of you for easy burst damage and knockdown on small-medium enemies) for fire-weak or use the Putrescence spells to proc Frostbite and swap to Melee to make good use of the defense debuff.
I prefer to two-hand my melee weapon so I can make use of the Skill on it as I need to.
if you don't have the DLC, trade the Putrescence spell for Ancient Rancor and Ghostflame Explosion, and Messmer's Orb for Flame of the Fell God, and trade Bone Bone for whatever shortbow or longbow you like.
My launch character is a RL200 INT/FAI hybrid. From a blind run, so stats and starting class are not optimal. If I were to return to this character, I'd move that ARC and some MND into END.
I'd initially wanted to play with Death sorcery, but after being thoroughly unimpressed with that school I repurposed the character into something thematically similar but much more effective: Ghostflame + Blackflame.
The focus of the build is Helphen's Steeple and the Golden Order seal.
Of the Ghostflame weapons available, Steeple fit the stat spread better than Death's Poker (which is primarily DEX-scaling and would therefore require a third stat investment). It applies frostbite, which can be reset with the Blackflame, and it visually matches the overall setup. Monochromatic fire all over the place.

My current character, made for the DLC, is a STR/FAI Omenkiller.
Omenkiller set and Cleavers, Frenzied Flame seal w. Madness incantations.
I'd originally intended to make an ARC Depraved Perfumer using poison, bleed, and madness with the Deadly Poison perfume and Dragon Communion seal. But it became very apparent very quickly that I needed something with more upfront raw damage and stagger potential for the DLC.
Omenkillers are just Perfumers who have been to prison, so it seemed like a reasonable choice. The Cleavers are surprisingly quick weapons for their weight class; Cold infusion improves the STR scaling for some reason so I have one Cold cleaver while the other runs Prelate's Charge, Heavy infusion, and Bloodflame Blade.
I find 150 to be a great single build and a 300 really isn't a lot stronger but just more diverse if it's not min maxed. I'm running
60 vigor
42 mind
42 endurance
54 strength
80 dex
50 faith
50 int
Low arcane 17
The dex just works with so many cool weapons and makes casting faster and strength gives me some tankiness. I usually alternate between blasphemous blade, nagakiba, sacred relic sword, bloodhound fang and night claws lately. Sometimes DMGS with jellyfish shield. The new katanas are great, especially the regular with golden vow, blood flame blade and flame Grant me strength.
Second one was Dragon Communion. It was kinda boring so I dumped the idea.
Currently trying dex/fai with Messmer's spear. Initially trying to switch between holy and fire as I see fit, but I got lazy and ended up going fire all the way.
So now I'm a Fire Monk with 80 fth and the Dryarts and other DLC spells, which I'm loving. So I guess this is my main now? Fth is so good in Co-Op - loving helping others!
Skills are horoalu earthshaker, lightning strike that also buff , sword dance, double slash, one that is similar to erdtree jump attack, frozen arrow, barbaric roar, and there are more
As for talisman, millicent's prosthetic, shard of alexander, Godfrey icon, one that give fast stamina regen, last one depends on spells
For spells golden vow, flame garnt me strength, red lightning buff for non infused weapon n, lightning spear, horn bolt, black flame, lightning armament, bleed buff, poison buff, n force.
As for weapon i prefer katana the most then, great swords, hand weapons, knife, shield, spears, great spears, scythes, long bow with rain arrow skill n bleed arrows, rot arrow,
Mix is depends on what I'm using....
This is my very first time build.
I've been doing a Dex build with an emphasis on ranged weapons and stealth.
Pulley Bow / Lion Bow for sniping, Black Bow for close-up fights, and Assassin's Gambit for sneaking around and doing backstabs.
Pure Faith Pyro Caster (Catch Flame, Giantsflame Take Thee, Burn o' Flame, etc.) - absolutely wrecks PvE and PvP (use something like Black Flame Tornado for highly Fire Resistant bosses) - you can also swap spells, gear, & physick tears and go full lightning caster
Pure Intelligence w/ 17str & 23dex - Carian Sword Sorceries/Carian Sovereignty AoW + Star-Lined Sword/Rellana's Swords, Ritual Spear, Moonveil, Death's Poker, etc. hard swaps
This play through is a tank. 60 STR, 60 Vigor, 50 END - Eclipse Greatshield and Ruins Greatsword/Moonlight Greatsword.
