Fire and Frost effs them.
Dodge the second hit.
This is high level area.
I would recommend going there at level 80 or higher with 50 or more Vigor.
- Grand Cloister -> this was most hard for me, i cleaned the area 1st from enemies, then lured out it from rot pool to the surface, and summoned mimic.
- Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree - this also was the hardest for me, eventually I decided to use distant gun, provided myself enaf mana and killed him in 3 mins standing on the cliff (not going down into his rot pool).
- War catacombs was less hard,. no rot, and you can summon mimik.
Generally - my Melee build is based on katanas and bleeding... so, I found the winning tactic is to strike and roll, in light armor, trying to hold on to his tail or under his belly. something like that. I don't know if this will help you. it's really better to come to this enemy later.
if you want, you can call me, we'll kill him together.
p.s.
after burning the Erd tree - a location appears where three of these beasts walk at the same time :)
