What should your AR usually be for PvP?
I don’t run PvP really at all but I wanted to try out my really high vigor build (atm with everything its abt 2800 at lvl 86 but by 150 is gonna be around 3500) however my damage at level 87 is sitting at 370 with Great Epee Blood Tax ash of war. I did a PvP run today and out of 6 matched I won 1 and that was with the assistance of a fragment of Astel’s help. Of course there’s multiple factors, I personally think I have alot to learn. But I did want to ask what is an AR that you feel would be good for PvP (for right now lets say RL 100 and then 150, and I understand that different weapon types will drastically effect this, so if you’d like we can generalize with slower weapons and faster weapons)

Thanks!!

Should be noted that AR accounts for all damage types combined. This means if you have a weapon that deals more than one type of damage (physical, fire, etc.) while you may have a higher AR than most other weapons, you will have to go through multiple defence stats that might result in lower damage compared to a pure single damage type.

That out of the way, AR/damage depends on your build, weapon, level, and infusion. I can't really say what the 'ideal' AR would be for your build at your level since there are so many factors, but you should be putting considerable amounts of levels in your damaging stat (str, dex, int, etc.) in order to raise your AR. For 150, you would probably want a bare minimum of 60 points total into your damaging stat.

If you have already have 2800 health, then you're probably already at 60 vig with Crimson Medallion, Edtree Favor, and Morgott's rune? I don't really know if you can get much higher health than that and if you can reach 3500, then I must be missing something. If you are going over 60 vigor, you should reallocate some of those points since the returns after 60 are barely noticeable and won't make too big of a difference. Hope this all helps!

You’re gonna want about 10,000 AR, just to be safe

Well it's kind of hard to get high vigor and high damage, at least to the numbers you say. At 99 Vigor, you have 2100 HP. You have to use two of your talisman slots for health, maybe more, crimson amber +3 and erdtree favor +2, and then you are using your physick for a small health increase. You can't use Morgott's rune in pvp. So you are using a decent amount of your kit too barely increase your hp. depending on the build you could instead use talismans that increase dmg and are multiplicative and allow you to get kills quicker.

Either way, you are sacrificing damage for health, and I'd say generally as long as you aren't getting one shot, you shouldn't focus too much on health. It's better to be able to deal more than take more. If you can finish your enemy before they can you, that's a win, and typically that's by killing them. As for your AR I would say around 400-700 is reasonable for 150 RL. It really depends on what kinda of weapon you are using and build you are going for. But my original point is that I don't think you should focus vigor for pvp, some survivability is good, but having better damage is more important.

An AR higher than 1 but less than 1 million should do it.

AR does not tell the story really, if you want numbers my 139 str-build has AR from around 500 to 1K depending on the weapon in question (with minimal buffing like resin or WA-buff).

What AR tells you is mostly which weapon in the class would give you more damage (although even in this case moveset is often a bigger consideration), for the rest you need to consider much more details than just AR.

Blanket thank you to everyone! Here’s what I’ve gleaned from all of you :)

Thank you! I should say I understand soft caps and damage values, I really love soulsbourne games. But admittedly Elden Ring is the one im least experienced in multiplayer wise and it’s probably not the best idea to ask questions on a sort of ‘meme build’ but I really want to stick with 99 vig to pursue the joke. Most likely what I will be doing is running with weapons that may have higher base damage values (most likely somber heavies and such) that also have a larger radius of attack, not dissing HTS’s though, I just think I need some more experience before taking on ganks and maybe a slash or swing wep is more forgiving. And yes 3500 is possible with new SOTE items and armors! Thank you again!

I think we should tame our expectations of one another and maybe set some boundaries if we want to pursue this relationship.

Thank you for your recommended range! And in any other circumstance you are totally right, like earlier I should have mentioned that this is a half serious build that I wondered would possibly be viable. I’m not gonna give up on it just yet but I will take your tips into consideration!!

I think we should see other people.

I appreciate your numbers! I like to see what others are running with just to have an idea of what I may be up against aswell, ofc I'm going to be looking at other builds and just how/what people play with to get better.
