ELDEN RING
What’s your guys’ opinions on the remembrance bosses in shadow of the erdtree?
Feel free to not read this at all if you care, this is like an essay worth of a thread post. Ok, this is gonna be a long one. The divine beast boss was kind of just annoying, locking on would make it super hard to tell what he’s doing and his lightning stuff was really dumb. Rellana felt like that whole “I’m gonna swing 8 times and you can’t do anything except dodge!”. Wasn’t a big fan.

Golden hippopotamus was honestly, imo, decently easy. The grab could be dodged with good timing and most moves were very telegraphed. Was weird how second phase is just hedgehog hippo.

Metyr was kind of just bland. No really unique moves other than her dumb lasers and she constantly spammed the fingers on her side thrusting at me when I got on any side. Her second phase was “I’m gonna make big boom and you have to dodge it. Also you can’t get any punish after I finish the move.” and her design was just weird.

Messmer was a really cool fight. Difficult, but fair fight. No garbage unable to dodge moves and no constant onslaught to where you couldn’t heal without being punished for doing so. He is pretty hard to beat but he actually has a fantastic move set, fantastic lore, and fantastic design.

Bayle was very fun. Very entertaining if you summon Igon (your weird if you don’t with knowledge of knowing you can) and felt very flashy and cool. No moves where you couldn’t dodge and you just had to run away and there were good windows to actually heal. I killed him in a few attempts but I still felt accomplished by defeating him. CURSE YOU BAYLE!!!

Commander Gaius is stupid. Really stupid. He’s riding a mount, let me use my mount! Turns out you get knocked off Torrent in like 2 hits. Thus you have to go on foot to actually kill him. His charge attack has a stupid op hitbox even if you time it right and it’s inconsistent in dodging it. His second phase sucked, just made him throw more projectiles. Other than that it’s a pretty boring fight. His design looks alright though.

The scadutree avatar fight sucked. Hardly any variation between phases other than he does this move one more time in one use of it or it does more damage or whatever. Not to mention you have to do it three times, and it’s sometimes hard to catch up to him because of his consistency of moving around the area like Elden Beast or something.

For Leda, it can be as fun as you make it. If you kill some npcs that help her or make some npcs that help her not help her then she is easy (as long as you have some people to summon). Killing moore was hard though. I just wanted to comfort him and then I had to kill him later in battle. Dane is always in the fight, and freyja can just be killed in seventh floor. I did that bc I wanted her stuff without having her gang up on me. It was pretty fun too (as long as you evened the playing field by killing some allies and summoning your own).

Moving on to the final boss, consort radahn, I hated him. I hated him, oh I hated him so much. Enir ilim dungeon was super annoying to get through and then I get a super annoying boss to pair with it. He gives you almost zero windows to attack, and when he does you can get like two hits in which do nothing to his health bar. Unless you want to use your bubble tear from wondrous physick immediately, it’s super hard to summon your spirit ash.

The npcs who help you with the fight suck and they just triple his hp if you summon both of them. Your best bet is to cheese him with a bleed spear and fingerprint stone shield, and then it just feels boring of a fight. Only reason I beat him was because I summoned someone who was using that cheese and I just watched the whole fight as he killed him.

Terrible boss design. At least radagon/elden beast were a decent challenge but weren’t super difficult (especially after they let u use torrent). Idc how much people say to just “gIt gUd” because he’s unfair. His second phase starts early into his health bar, and getting to even that was hard. His miquella BOMB with light had to just be ran away from and some of his attacks were so unfair.

Like his second phase move where he spammed the same slash over and over then used a light based attack and kills me. I don’t like bosses that I have to spend hours on top of hours on top of hours to beat that probably takes years off my life and that’s just one of the times I kill them. You wanna replay the dlc and kill the final boss? Nah, have fun spending a month trying to kill him without a cheese.

It’s such a difficulty bump for no reason. I had almost all the blessings for radahn and that made no difference. This boss feels like I’ve had all my joy sapped out from my soul. Killing him doesn’t even feel rewarding, because you just think, “im finally done with this garbage” and his remembrance weapons aren’t even that good!

They’re basically a reskin of the starscourge greatswords and one of them has a bad aow and both of them have bad scaling for a colossal weapon. At max level they scale with a C in str, a C in dex, and a D in int. Nothing about this scaling is good. Until there’s possibly a buff on strengths scaling just by a little bit to b and int has better scaling im not using these garbage remembrance weapons. At first I thought they were like a powerstance if you had both so I duplicated the remembrance with a mausoleum to use both just to learn both come with an extra sword and one sword is a dual wield. So there isnt any combination stuff, it’s just a choice.

It’s not like it really matters anyway, the light variant aow sucks, I wouldn’t use it if it were a powerstance. The only reasons I’m super mad about this is that not only did they come from the hardest boss in all of the game, but I also wasted my somber smithing stones max leveling both swords thinking it were a powerstance.

And it’s not like the incantation remembrance is good either, it requires way too much faith for anything but a faith build and also isn’t nearly as big as the actual move. Ik most of this was a rant about consort radahn but you have to understand where I’m coming from.

I’m not a pro or anyone super good at the game, I’d say I’m a little good at the base game bosses and like playing the game. I liked most of the dlc bosses and don’t regret purchasing it. However I’m not going to spend days upon days upon days and maybe even weeks or months on one boss in a game I like.

Yeah, I can cheese it and be over with it, but that doesn’t give the same accomplishment. It’s a lose-lose. Either I cheese him and I don’t feel accomplished or anything and just think “thank god I’m done with this” or I play the game over and over again non stop for days just to beat a person in a fictional game. I’ll wait for a nerf and then try to beat him regularly. If he gets nerfed. Sorry for the lengthy post, that’s all I have to say.
Edit: forgot to mention midra, I think he was pretty fun. The depths of your foolishness!

In my opinion the only bad remembrance boss was Gaius, all the other ones were really cool. Gaius’s charge attack feels like cheating most of the time.
Midra and Bayle (ok.....you get the heart instead a remembrance) are better than any of the main bosses for me. I actually enjoy making my way to Midra manse, from the tomb (including the inquisitor and his congregation fight) with the giant bigmouth imp to the forest hunting and killing all the Aging Untouchables, also the fight except his BS meteor you have to interrupt and overrun (cant dodge it) is just plain AMAZING! One of the few i bothered to learn and kill without getting hit.

Bayle and Igon (didnt even know about Igon until my third kill) are one of the best fights designed by From and with permission of Demon Soul Dragon God my favorite dragon. Picture a fight designed by Michael Bay where the true enemy is........The camera, other than that fair and extremly enjoyable to learn fight.

Special mentions! The angry sunflower co-op is something else! Hectic and fun as hell and the gaols bosses like Yoda and the Lamenter are amazing.

Gaius was a wasted opportunity to have a fun Torrent-based boss fight, but the wonky hit boxes and constant 1-2 knock offs make Torrent pretty much useless in the fight.

I agree Consort Radahn is an extremely disappointing final boss, who is just frankly poorly designed and poorly executed. Not to mention, he has all the same hit box problems as launch day Star-scourge, almost as if he had very little play test time.

DLC was disappointing as a whole. The best part of it, is the loads of new content, mainly in the form of weapons, spells, incantations, and armor. The most fun I've had with the DLC is bringing the DLC weapons into the base game and enjoying my favorite parts of Elden Ring with new stuff (and all my favorite parts are in the base game).

I’d have to say the only reason I really hate consort radahn is because of his dumb hitboxes and little to no room to get hits in safely due to basically anti-player move set (not mentioning the bad remembrance rewards from it). Other than that I really like his design and the idea of radahn being the final boss with miquella (what’s up with miquellas consort being his half brother though)

Messmer and Bayle = S Tier, some of the best in the game

Midra/Scadu Avatar/Rellana = Really good

Romina = Good but waaaaay too easy

Dancing Lion = Decent but only really cause of the presentation

Metyr/Putrescent Knight = Thank god they're optional

Gaius = Rot in hell

Radahn = Rot even farther down in hell
Paragraphs pls ;_;

I don't understand all the hate for Gaius. He is one of the easiest bosses to learn in the dlc. The rest of the tier list I agree except for radahn

My brother in Marika, you still need to make paragraphs. It's not hard, just press enter twice occasionally after a period.

Messmer is fun, but damn is his room dark. With all the flame attacks and the dim lighting, it can be a PITA to see what he's doing.

The sunflower has some piss poor hit boxes but it's nice being able to kill it super fast with the right setup and actual skill timing and aiming for his face with a big fireball.
