Question for anyone who beat the DLC with a colossal sword / colossal weapon build
How's life in the insane asylum?

Okay, I jest, but I do seriously respect people who've gotten through it with the hardest to use weapon class (that isn't just a joke weapon like a broken straight sword or dagger).

Did a duel dagger run my second time through. It was worth the insane asylum free room and board. Plus they do my laundry.

Haven’t used anything other than the Greatsword, since I got lost in Caelid on my first play-through. Nothing beats my trusty slab of iron.

I thought the dlc was a lot easier with a colossal sword because of all the staggers you are getting against bosses. Not just the riposte damage is insanely helpful, but the dlc also has a lot of humanoid bosses, which can be infinitely stun locked by spamming the crouch pokes of colossal swords.

I used the Fire Knight's Greatsword for a big chunk of the DLC. That said, I did have some trouble in a few spots, and somewhat ironically the solution to get past it was to fall back on my original build: Great Stars with Prayerful Strike, some heavy armor, and a whole buff routine to maximize defense and HP regen.

Colossal Swords and weapons suck in general.

Honestly fine. Switch to powerstancing with Raptor for more mobile bosses. They get stancebroken as babies. Common enemies are a joke. Minibosses like fire and even DEATH nites (who is actually a boss) are a joke. Colossals are easy mode second only to shield pokes because they stagger soo good. And have fast long attacks (c. swords). Maliketh's bb carried me hard on my str/fth. New sword is poggers too, the Fire knight one.

Jump attack abuse, aside, because that would be one of the most broken PvE options in the game...

While I don't play heavy weapons, typically, myself as they're slow and I like faster mobile combat have people having issues tried tossing Endure on it with some tanky defensive talisman / buffs? I imagine that would trivialize some fights that might otherwise pose an issue for heavy weapons. Also, sometimes thrusting ones can be pretty great.
??? It was hard?

Kinda made half the dlc a complete pushover. Collosal weapons are insanely good if you know what youre doing.

I completed my first run with shield and spear, my second with colossal weapons and no shield. I enjoyed the second one better.
