Right? I had to turn on Flashing Lights by Kanye West when i first got to his second phase.
I love Elden Ring, it's easily one of my favorite games out there. And I mostly enjoyed the DLC despite my issues with it. One of those issues being that some of these bosses are not fun at all to get through.
But this boss fight was atrocious. There isn't a single good thing about it. The DLC is part of my second playthrough of ER, and first NG+ playthrough. I plan to do a third for the third ending achievement, and I will skip the DLC for that.
I might do it again someday, but I need a mental break from it.
Edit: I'd also like to say that I've had basically no performance issues for the entire DLC, and his fight is the one glaring exception to that. Every time he would wind up and execute his near arena filling AOE attacks, my FPS would typically fall well below 30.
Edit 2: I also find it disappointing on another level. That being, I've already seen this guy. They could've made the last boss Miquella, or saved Messmer for last, but they made us fight Radahn again. Same guy, and even the rewards for beating him are pretty close to the original. A poor decision in my opinion to make him the final fight.
1. The ultra fast 3-slahes combo out of nowhere
No matter which strategy you are going for (parry or doge rolls) you really need to avoid standing on his feet all the time in P1, otherwise you will get 1-2 combos right into your face and that could either 1-2 shot you or cost too much healing pots at this early stage of the fight.
2. Phase 2 lightshow
It is a nightmare for the eyes (especially when you are 50+ years old like me).
You can hardly see what Radhan is doing behind all those flashing lights. Also the new special attacks of P2 are numerous and you need to learn how to dodge each single one of them. By the way, when he rises into the air, that attack, it can be dodged 100%. If you stand right next to him it is actually a very good opportunity to punish him. There is a certain short sound in the music, if you hear this, simply jump and you wont get damage. Also, the P2 aoe holy attacks that come along with his regular P1 attacks need to be avoided by literally standing on his feet when parrying or dodging his attacks.
In this rare case i really have to agree that the fight is poorly designed at least partly.
Let me just say that I am impressed you managed to bang your head against the wall that is Consort Radahn 200 times in a row, and broke the wall before you broke your head.
andh is second phase is literally the same as the first, you just have to roll forwards to dodge the lasers that spawn in front of him. and he has like 4 i think new special moves you have to learn how to dodge. And the ground eruption move he has fire lasers outwards, its not bad, Here, you can watch me fight him. https://youtu.be/ZSKxBNNrZS0?si=7jdGKRD9zuTlyGFU
