Is there a best elemental damage for the Shadow of Erdtree?

I am having a faith build where I use Malikeths black blade (holy damage), but could respec and switch to the Royal Greatsword (magic damage).

I don't think there's an overall best elemental damage. Holy, magic and lightning all seem pretty good, and even fire against some bosses, but I can't really say which one would be the best one.

Most bosses have holy resistance. The only exceptions undeads, they are weak to holy damage. With SRT/FTH build, you are better off using fire or lightning damage weapons. I recommend switching to Blasphemous Blade. You could also get any colossal/heavy weapon and slap lions claw on it with fire/fire art mod.

Far more things are weak to Holy damage in the DLC than the base game where tons of things are resistant to it. Even Messmer just gets melted by anything enchanted with Order Blade or Sacred Blade.

If your building into Faith the new Legendary weapon Euphoria has been buff to increase its holy damage... Though the weapon is only obtainable late game in the DLC...

I would have agreed before, but the Perfume Flasks dealing pure elemental damage just destroys things that bulk up on armor. They usually stack physical resistances more than magical, so you just completely negate their armor.

i did not feel comfortable with slow colossal weapons in the dlc. I switched to Magma Wyrm greatsword and Executioner Greataxe.

I found the electricity does well with beefy enemies but then again, Knights Lightning Spear is just crazy powerful.

Outside of that, grab yourself Flame, Protect Me. It's great against a lot of the enemies in the game, like Messmer Fire happy enemies and Furnace Golems, which lets you survive getting grabbed and dropped into its flame even with 0 scud.
