Sounds like Impenetrable Thorns is worse but also better?

I get it, Impenetrable Thorns pretty much shreds the final challenge. Anyone here given it a try to see how hard it got hit? I'm wondering if we're talking Blasphemous Blade "It's not as good but still viable" or Flame of the Redmanes "don't even bother anymore" levels of rebalancing.

flame of the redmane its still very much usable
i use it on a caestus on my pyro build for crowd control and it works pretty well, even breaking stance on smaller ''bigboys''

it doesn't stunlock bosses to death anymore like it used to.... but its far from useless

sorry i had to drop that ''uuhm actually''

Hey, no worries, to each their own. For me there's just way more spells I'd use over Redmanes now. but everyone's build style and play style is different so if it's still a favorite of yours no harm no foul :D

Honestly Impenetrable Thorns seemed kinda.... well, I tried it and I didn't like it, and that was before it got nerfed. I guess people who like everything to proc bleed like that sort of thing...

Meanwhile I instantly fell in love with Spectral Rings and the two Putrescence spells. Two of those got buffed, at least in terms of proccing frost.

Spectral is so fun! I need to try the putrescence spells out, I love cold infusions. What I liked about thorns was the kind of like, high risk high reward aspect of it. I did a runthrough trying a thorn sorceries build once (well, as much of an all-game as you can given where you get some of those spells) and it was super fun being like "Okay, if I time this out just right I'll do a lot of damage, but if I mess up I'm in for a world of hurt!"

But my favorite DLC spells so far are hands down Knight's Lightning Spear, the upgraded pest threads, and the one you get from Romina. There's loads of new spells I've not played with yet, but of the ones I tried those were my favorites :D

Well, its....different to put it lightly. Im comparing ot to Briars of Punishment as I used both in Tandem for a Briar Sorcerer-Build. Its still Viable as a direct upgrade of BoP, but not really the workhorse it used to be tbh. On my setup I hit the Troll in Stormfront for 1709 (with the Bleed proc on first hit) with IT (impenetrable thorns), while I hit him with 693 with BoP (Briars of Punishment). BoP will Proc Bleed in 2 hits, IT in 1 to 2, FP-Consumtion whise its more in line with other spells now (Discounting bleed). The Buff in form of a Tracking adjustement feels like it did nothing really. The 2 outer Briars did only track in PvP, and it feels the same, and in PvE you would get as close as possible anyways

IT was boring. Just beat the game using BB and it's a bit more exciting.

No they didn't, Rotten Butterflies still has zero hyperarmor despite having a 5 second cast animation. It needs friggin HYPERARMOR Fromsoft!!!!!

Well, it was totally OP and shredded every single boss in the game, so you not liking it before the nerf says nothing about the spell.

this is a funny post... saying instead of using a broken op thing you just used the 2nd most broken op thing for a better gameplay experience ;)

I'm still playing testing it, but so far it's fairly depressing. It was definitely overpowered before, so the nerd was needed, but while the tracking on all three thorns is better it seems more inaccurate in general. It's also taking a heftier amount of time to proc bleed even when it does hit, you'd be better to use a bleed weapon outright. As long as they pay attention it'll likely get looked at again, so you may just want to look at some of the other stuff for a bit. Then again, that's just my experience and I'm still trying to see if it's just user error lol
