They give us pointers and we make the theories, that's how the game is played.

Add a lot of headcanon bait so that people create endless online discussions, make tons of lore videos and thus increase the game's exposure and attract new players.

Not a fan of this marketing strategy, makes me feel used.

They also cut out a dialogue where he makes the same promise Ranni does in her ending. So either there was going to be a new Miquella ending that got cut or the original cutscene of him appearing would have been longer, and involved the veil lifting but then they would have had to give all the base game NPC's dialogue commenting on it so they probably got lazy.

afaik that cut dialogue wasn't from a new ending but just something that played during the boss fight.
