A question about Rykard

I went to fight Rykard for the first time and during my first run (and I found it really boring btw)
But something got my attention: i didn't get any damage from the lava, let me explain.

Rykard's attacks did damage on me, and the lava that he creates from the attacks too, but the lava that surrounds him didn't give me any damage, only constant stun.
Is it normal? I have 193 / 24223 of fire resistance and I ate boiled crab

I know that this isn't important, but I'd be glad to know if is it a bug or normal.

Yes it’s normal, the lava is absolutely not a hinderance in the fight.

I had 30 vit and the damage it did was negated when I needed to regain endurance and drank a pot. It's very weak.
