Doesn't mean you will, or that you won't. The anti-cheat is just designed to catch obvious stuff first, like giving yourself max number of items.
Worst case scenario I get banned, but considering this is a purely visual client-side change, perhaps they'd have mercy on me
its an automated system, there is no mercy, if it registers it will ban you for 180 days.
Seamless Coop is an exception in that you have to play Online to use it. But EAC must still be disabled and you can never use a Seamless Coop character in 'normal' Online or Offline play.
OP, don't do it. You will get banned. ANY mods online get you banned.
People do model swaps in games like Helldivers 2, an online-only game with anti-cheat, and AFAIK they haven't been punished. I know the two games use different anti-cheats but I imagine the direct replacement of the file for a model is something that's hard to detect in general, and even if it is detectable, might not be something that the system would warrant a ban for.
Again, not saying it wouldn't cause a ban - or that it isn't risky - but I'm hoping someone with more experience can weigh in on this before I attempt it myself.
Consider it research.
Also, I don't think the game even allows you online in this particular scenario, it gives you a warning first, then puts you in offline mode.
Not 100% sure on that, hence the test.
do w/e, it literally doesn't affect us, but you know what the result will be.
If you have files that EAC doesn't recognize, or if you have a modified regulation.bin file, it'll either refuse to launch, put you into offline mode, or outright ban you. I tinker with modding quite a bit and I've had the first 2 things happen but no ban yet.
I'd be literally replacing the original model's files in my game files, so the new file would have the same name as the old file and I'm not entirely sure that EAC can detect beyond that unless it does some crazy stuff like counting polygons in a model or something which.. I don't think EAC is capable of lol. I suppose it could check file size or something similar but the packing/unpacking process may mitigate that, or it may just... Not do that lol
I really might have to scientific method this shiz lol. I'm willing to take one for the team, worst case scenario I can just play in seamless co-op or play offline.
I guess my next question would be, is it worth it?
I mean, I'd like for you to science the shiz out of it as well.
Like I said earlier, I think you get booted to offline before you can even find out.
But, then again, is an armor worth it?
Is it like Deadpool Or Wolverine armor or something? Or just something from within the game files?
If so, then I hope it is allowed, because that would be badass af.
Keep us posted.
A brief post saying what sums up to "don't do it or you'll get banned" with no deeper explanation isn't what I'm looking for, no offense.
I know how modding works, how anti-cheat works, how bans work, etc etc., and I'm aware there's risks involved with playing with anything that isn't the vanilla game. I'm just hoping someone with similar or more experience in modding or knowledge as to how how EAC works has some insight to share.
There's not really a point in engaging with anything that won't be constructive to the topic at hand, but I appreciate these answers, even if they're not what I'm looking for.
