Elden Ring Keeps Crashing after the Latest Patch, PLEASE HELP!!
**EDIT 06/09/2024: FIXED (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FINALLY) :)

So, as user "dark-breed" suggested back at the end of june, is was indeed a Intel CPU crash issue (specifically 13th and 14th gen cpus, with highier chances of a crash for higher end ones, like i9 and KF).
Unfortunately there is no fix for this cpu crash issue, and the cpu needs to be sent back to Intel via warranty, i did just that, and after a long and tedious support process, i was able to get them to send and receive a substitution.

Since obtaining the new Cpu AND Updating my Asus Motherboard Bios to the latest update (check for a "intel microcode update" or any following ones) i experienced zero crashing. not a single crash after 3 or 4 hours of gameplay, i even left the game running in the background while performing other tasks on my pc for hours and i had no crash at all.

BEFORE GOING THROUGH THE WARRANTY PROCESS I ADVICE TO DO EVERY OTHER AVAILABLE TROUBLESHOOT METHOD AND MAKE SURE THAT IT IS INDEED YUOR ISSUE, BACK IN THE THREAD YOU CAN FIND MORE IN-DEPTH LINKS TO THE SITUATION AND HOW TO TEST IT BY "dark-breed".
AFTER THAT, UPDATE YOUR BIOS LOOKING FOR THE MICROCODE
AND CONTACT INTEL DIRECTLY VIA THEIR WEBSITE,
OPENING A TICKET AND ASKING FOR A SUBSTITUTION
**

So, recently Elden Ring has been constantly crashing on me, like every 5 to 30 minutes or so, and i think it started after the 1.12.3 patch, but not really sure if it is related. Still, prior to that i never really had any issue running the game, i finished my first run on SotE with zero crashes.

I already searched for any GPU or any hardware updates and everything is up to date, i also tried to check file integrity in steam and even Uninstall and Re-install the game.

Looking in the Event Viewer this is the Crash Report i get:

Faulting application name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.2.3.0, time stamp: 0x667d44fb
Faulting module name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.2.3.0, time stamp: 0x667d44fb

Report ID: dd8d3f1e-0e0f-405c-bed9-4c08b7bbc0a9

I saw on other threads that it may be a RAM issue and i tried to lower my ram speed in the bios to the same as my CPU but it didn't help.

I really don't know what else to try, is anybody experiencing the same issues? and most importantly does anybody have a solution?

my pc specs:
os: windows 11 pro
mb: ROG STRIX B760-I
cpu: Intel(R) Core i7-14700KF 3.40 GHz
gpu Asus TUF 3060ti 8gb
ram: 32.0 GB now at 3.40 GHz
the game is installed on an M.2 nvme SSD

Thanks to anyone that answers!

update: io also tried to run windows with no other processes in the background and disabling Easy Anti Cheat, it looked promising but after 30 min it crashed again with a similar Event:

Also didn't mention it in the previous post but i am also experiencing wierd visual glitches, like polygons and textures stretching all across the screen and lights turning on and off.
I'll upload a screenshot when i can.

And you think there's nothng we can do? it's very wierd, i didn't have any issue with the same cpu a couple of weeks ago, and other games run fine... it's so annoying :(

This game is good in reveal problems since it is not so failure tolerant than other games.

I see this log since weeks more often and always with Intel 13. And 14. Gen CPU's.

Look up how to downclock/undervolt this Type of CPU to get it stable, as long it is not too late and the cpu is not damaged this will stabilize it.

There are tests you can run to reveal that this cpu has a random malfunction related to the known problem.

Download occt.

For the gpu Transfer this test.

This settings:

3d standard

error detection enabled

For the CPU testing this test.

combined

dataset=large
mode=extreme
loadtype=variable
thread settings=core cycling
type=cycle trough all cores
cycle interval=10 milliseconds

all other Settings are fine in Standard.

If the cpu is already damaged you get errors if no errors appear it is in the instable status.

Both test have to be run for 60 minutes, if errors appear stop the test to prevent further problems

Just to add it is insane that Intel get not punished for this Desaster, they sell garbadge and normal users can not recognize the problem until it is permanent.

Amd called back the 9000 series CPU during a problem before they started to sell them, Intel sells faulty Hardware since maybe a year now and get away with it.

I had this problem for a while too, it was really annoying.

Sooo, after a LOT of troubleshooting and trying everything, i came to the definitve conclusion that it is indeed Intel's Instability problem on 13th and 14th gen cpus. Unfortunatly looking online and doing the necessary tests (like undervolting the cpu and disabling auto overclock modes in the bios) the issue persists and there is not really a fix to it. If your cpu started crashing, it's done and your unit is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (thanks Intel btw). The only positive is that:

1. Cpu's have a 3 years of warranty, and they are available for RMA's and Substitution of the faulted unit (i'm currently wainting for an answer in the Support Request on Intel's website)

2. They said that Motherboards manufacturer (like asus in my case) are working on a BIOS update patch that "shoud" help prevent the crash (it's called a microcode update)

also, kind of unrelated, but playing Seamless Co-Op significantly decreases my Crashing issue for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reasons lol

Same issue that's been there since day one. Clear your driver shader cache.

Ban the EAC first:
add a text file named "steam_appid.txt" in the source file menu at "\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game" and input "1245620"in it
