special attacks
some weapons have special abilities like spinning attack or some special charger attack etc, you can do them by pressing f (assuming you're using default settings) or by using ctrl and right click, i was wondering is there really a difference between these two, i don't think they'd give us two ways to do the same thing, but both seem very similiar, and im not sure if anything is different between them

Yes, they do give you two ways to do most everything. If you look at the keybinds you will see a column for keyboard and a column for mouse.

In addition, some binding associations are fixed by default, but that does not mean you cannot create additional ones or setup some combined key macros to assign to keyboard or mouse.

Lots of options. :)

Using a controller, there's only one way to trigger weapon skills, the L2 button/trigger.

OP is obviously talking about KBD/M setups. In addition, many controller binds CAN be changed.

Yeah, I know. I was indicating that since while using a different input method there's only one trigger, there's not going to be any difference between the alternate triggers for his inputs.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here. :(

If the two different methods of using weapons skills via KB/M had different and distinct functions, then logically while using a controller there would also be two different methods corresponding to the two different types of weapon skill activations. There is only one method to activate weapon skills using a controller, therefore the two different activation methods using KB/M are logically identical.

If I map, say 'Q' and Shift-RMB to both do 'Skill', then of course they do the same thing. That is the whole point of the original discussion. Two different inputs that do the same thing.

So, I still don't see what the point is that you are trying to make.

That either "f" or "ctrl" will perform the same action regardless (being just option for the same thing with no difference).

Well.. there is a difference:

'pressing f" is faster than "ctrl+mouse" as "f" alone is only 1 press of a key while "ctrl+mouse" is 2 presses that need to be at the same time.

I started typing my comment at the same time that you were typing yours, so I didn't see that you had already responded to the original question until I posted my reply. Same answer, just a different method of explanation.

Well, the difference is even greater than that as any user of Unsheathe could tell you. But that is not the point either. It is not about *exact* functionality, it is about basic functionality which was the OP query.
