why do starting classes matter? isn't everyone lv400+?
why does the starting spread of stats even matter? the meta pvp level is 200 and most pve players are lv 400+
at that level you have stats to use anything you want and more, completely negating the small differences of starting class

Okay now what about the people doing PvP at 150 or lower?
twiggy Jul 24, 2024 @ 9:16am
the meta is actually 150 and tryhard is 125

Because not everybody is a Pro Souls Player and it is good to have a baseline starting point for new to 'Souls Game' folks to begin the game with.

Acutually most people decide to start over and do new playthroughs.

I have never ever had a level 400 char.

My highest char ever was 292
My 2nd highest and current DLC char was 210 when i started DLC and is 251 now
And after finishin DLC

I continued to play with my level 131 char starting the DLC again.

I have 9 base game playthoughs and 7 of those chars ended somewhere between RL 120 and RL 140

NG+ wasnt very popular before Elden Ring.
usually it feels like wasting time to do 3 ultra easy playthroughs that are far easier than your first playthrough before you reach NG4+ where you fort the first feel a slight increase in difficulty...

And even if you clear Ng7+ you will only end up somewhere between RL 270 and 310

So no, not everyone is Level 400+ unless its a person who enjoys doing easy content with the same char over and over again instead of trying new things

Not needed to be a pro as the start of the game is quite "not hard" (to avoid saying easy) and easy to lvl up fast from lvl 1 to lvl 10~17 (where is the baseline of the other classes).
Sure, a bit more HP, but aside form the Dragon, Tree Sentinel and Runebars (that you have to either be too unlucky or forcibly go into) nothing will 1shot and most things will not even 2shot the player with 10VIG there, just killing stuff at random for 30min may already put the player within 10~20 lvl range.

Sure, the starting point and Wretch work better for someone that knows what is doing (either someone that plays Souls and souls-like games pprior to Ellden Ring or that played through ER before) but the difference is not all that big from the other starting classes.

With how scadutree fragments work, being level 400 would essentially trivialize the DLC.

Pretty much to choos a playstyle you feel comfortable with at least until you hit the necessary stats for the gears and weapons you want to use until late game. After lvls 200 up to the so mentioned 400 at that point is merely convenience to not have to be using larval tears whenever they want to switch on playstyles or mix and match different ones. you can have 80 dex, but if you are using a colossal str weapon with no dex scaling is pretty much useless, at that point but in reserve just in case you want to switch quickly on the go in an invasion or arena to a keen urumi for example with a nice 3 hit true combo which scales with makes the other 80str you had useless for now. My guess would be is more for people who actually know how to hard switch weapons really quick for pvp purposes.

Spoken as somebody who is one of the Pro Souls Players and has forgotten how hard these games are for anyone not used to the Genre.

To expect a true 'newbie' to have an 'easy' time of it as a Wretch? Absurd. Even having something truly powerful, such as Samurai, as a starting class will be a challenge to learn and play effectively. Even in the open world.

Most pve players are level 400+?

Why are you making things up.

most good players are lv400+, only people who constantly die and lose their runes are kept at a low level like 150

So this is a troll thread then?

I get trying to be creative but this is super random. And not at all believable.

not my issue you can't level to 400
there is no reason to not level, it's a game mechanic just like mimic tear and phantom summons
are you one of those people who refuse to use game mechanics and then say the game is too hard?
Old Captain Yon Jul 24, 2024 @ 9:37am
Depends. Some people do not make new characters and just do NG+ cycles. These are high level. Some prefer to make another character each time they do a new playthrough. These are reasonably leveled. Besides, some stop at certain levels to get better invasions/coop.
